How much hp would non-operational 5th and 6th ports take away?

I recently discovered that one of my auxilary ports is stuck closed. how much hp am I loosing? I will clean them during springbreak but I want to know how much power I have been driving without. I only discovered that the port did not work after I got my True Duals and removed my air pump.

Aaron Cake 02-23-03 08:57 PM

It's rather subjective, but my opinion is 15 HP. Both stuck closed would be VERY noticable, and probably a loss of 30HP or more top end.

1987RX7guy 02-23-03 09:04 PM

wow, thanks Aaroncake

If anyone has had dyno results with the ports not working and then cleaning them and dynoing again post the before and after numbers.

neevosh 02-23-03 09:48 PM

I saw a streetported car make about 150HP closed, and about 180HP after they were wired open. This was with a full exhaust.

1987RX7guy 02-23-03 09:54 PM

Well.......
I do have the Duals:bowdown:

sneakyasian 02-25-03 03:20 AM

just for clarification the two ports on the lower intake manifold are both six port actuators, not a fifth and sixth. FYI

1987RX7guy 02-25-03 09:13 AM

5th and 6th to me cuz I have a six port engine just like every one else here ass hence 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th and 6th ports idiot

1987RX7guy 02-25-03 09:15 AM

It is a logical numbering because you can't have two sixth ports dumbass. They are "Auxilary" ports anyways so STFU

I've been calling them 5th and 6th (because they are the 5th and 6th ports) for years now. Want to correct me?

I will!!!....:D

1987RX7guy 02-25-03 01:19 PM

I am not immature just an ass.

1987RX7guy 02-25-03 01:35 PM

What are they officially called by Mazda?

Rxmfn7 02-25-03 02:12 PM

Auxillary ports... People just use 5th and 6th because thats what they are , a 5th and 6th port. The T2 has a 4 port engine, and the N/A FC engines are 6 port.

1987RX7guy 02-25-03 02:13 PM

I thought all 2nd gens were 6 port?

1987RX7guy 02-25-03 02:14 PM

I think all FC's have six. I never heard that aboutl TII's I think you might be mistaken dude.

Aaron Cake 02-25-03 03:38 PM

TIIs are 4 port. NAs are 6 port.

1987RX7guy 02-25-03 03:43 PM

wow

13bpower 02-25-03 04:14 PM

Yup, all TII's are 4 port. all N/A's are 6 port.

87GXLRX7 02-25-03 04:21 PM

ohkay.. well i'm learning lots here.. so if a turbo is put on a NA.. would it put out more power, because of a higher compression ratio and more air at higher RPM's?

SonicRaT 02-25-03 04:30 PM

Ask Aaron, he should know the answer to that. ;)

Kai 02-25-03 05:30 PM

Last time I dynoed, I pulled 96hp/104ft-lbs with stuck aux. ports, I have yet to fix them.:(

This is so not true. Yes all TII"S are 4 port, but not all n/a's are 6 port. Early 13B's were 4 port N/A as are 12a's except the 12a 6port in japan. Unless you were talking about 2nd gens only that is different, but your statement leads people to believe the contrary.:)

1987RX7guy 02-25-03 08:47 PM

Any questions?

SonicRaT 02-25-03 10:04 PM

You get em Rat! :) What's better, stuck closed, or stuck open?

Rotor13B 02-26-03 05:34 AM

Dude CHILL out!!

You call people names (against the rules), then you make mistake (nobody calls you dumbass or anything because THOSE ARE THE RULES!!), and then you post something like this (above). Whats your problem? We are here to learn, and you obviously don't know EVERYTHING, so please be kindfull to others :)

Please!

1987RX7guy 02-26-03 07:47 AM

Ok sorry to all those I called names. Just read the whole thing I mean we are talking about second gens here. People should be able to tell that we are talking about FC's and not FB's.:dunce:

87GXLRX7 02-26-03 05:34 PM

girls will be girls!

silverrotor 02-26-03 05:38 PM

I'll be adding to this thread soon...with and w/o functioning Auxilliary Ports...

1987RX7guy 02-26-03 05:49 PM

You have HP numbers? By the way silverrotor your car is nice in that site you posted. I wonder what it looks like now?

wankel drwankel 02-26-03 11:18 PM

now boys play nice or ill turn this 2+2 rx7 around and we will not get any icecream...

1987RX7guy 02-26-03 11:20 PM

I realize that this is the second gen forum, I was just pointing out that that was sortof a blanket statement about n/a's. Now, I know the fc was being refered to, but even you questioned the validity whether TII's had six ports. Someone else could misread that as being bible and spread more missinformation on the subject.

remember, assumption is the mother of all fuckups...:D

Digi7ech 02-27-03 04:55 AM

Well, I know there is shit for power without them.
My 88 SE ran 18.2 at fastest without them actuating.
When they worked I did 17.4.

There is no top end without them. My max speed was a little over 100. with the ports I could do 120(MPH).

So those ports make a lot of difference.

All 2nd Gen NAs are 6 port. Since this is the 2nd gen forum and not the 1st gen forum, I thought it was obvious I was referring to the 2nd gen. I guess not...

Rotor13B 02-27-03 02:28 PM

Ok, but i was quoting 13bpower not you Aaron.

13bpower 02-27-03 04:49 PM

This is funny, every once in a while someone will chime in and try to make themselves feel smart by pointing out the lack of an overwhelming detailed answer to a simple question.

13bpower 02-27-03 04:52 PM

Possibly.... I was making a statement refering to a question stated above, and not a general statement ment to be analyzed on it's own.

1987RX7guy 02-27-03 04:53 PM

what is a good carb cleaner dammit!!!!!!!!!!

I usually just get the cheapest stuff. I have found that to be a good way to find the best carb cleaner but if you all know about a really good one I would appreciate the tip.:)
