How much does it coust for a fc3s from japan?

Hey i was wondering what where the prices on buying a used fc3s from japan with shipping? is it worth it? It would be sweet to have a right hand drive car:D

mightymouse0x 07-24-03 10:48 PM

fc's are cheap there, but not worth importing it here, u can convert a USDM fc to right hand drive for cheaper than it would be to import and legalize. if your not planning to legalize, sure go for it. plus the US usually will not legalize cars that are the same make and model u can find here

Right hand drive? I don't know... but at least they are all turbo. :D

Liquid Anarchy 07-25-03 12:12 AM

you can import it all day long from Japan... you just can't drive it on the streets. Ask Soul Assassin why he decided to chop his car into little bitty peices.

n4ji 07-25-03 12:19 AM

Yeah, just like with importing a skyline. MotorEx does all the legaling and such, and if you bring in your own skyline, get pulled over, cops knows what the car is... WHOOPS, it's illegal. I'd just do the right hand conversion. Shifting with your left hand would be weird though..

Rx-7Blazin 07-25-03 12:25 AM

i think it would be easer cuz i switch hands over to much( i like driving with my right hand) but soul assassin chopped his car up??? what that was a beutiful car

ForsakenRX7 07-25-03 12:29 AM

Yea I never got the full story of why the car was pieced out. Is there a thread that has the story? Anyone got the link?

bl|nk 07-25-03 12:38 AM

you can do the super sketchy way. Buy a shell Rx-7... import a Rx-7 from japan.. switch vins... put shell rx-7 behind house drive rhd rx-7.. get busted one day ... they take your car away.. crush it... fine you to the point where you can only afford a tricycle and work at mcd's! :)

Rx-7Blazin 07-25-03 12:42 AM

haha doesnt sound like fun to me. but seriously what happend to sould assassins car

j200pruf 07-25-03 01:57 AM

He found i was going to be a MPITA to get it over here, so he decided to part it out, simple as that.

OC_ 07-25-03 02:27 AM

seriously, if you had a imported car, and you had the same car that was bought in the states and they where the same color and crap and u just switch the plates, do you think the cop is going to check your vins and stuff right there? its going to read in his computer "red RX-7" or somthing, how is he going to tell? (other then RHD)

bl|nk 07-25-03 02:30 AM

it's going to be something stupid like something that he notices isn't DOT compliant.. or say it got impounded or just whatever that tips them off to it

OC_ 07-25-03 02:38 AM

beh! i would risk it.
it would be funny when the cop comes up to the left side of the car when you are on the right.

what would he notice that isent DOT compliant?

Bukwild 07-25-03 07:13 AM

Bullshit, in most states that don't have inspection like Florida you can get any car titled. You can title a jap import as a junk yard wrecked fc and pay for a lost title and their is nothing any law inforcement can do. Once it is titled is good in 50 states.

so let me get this straight, you can't legalize a car if there is already a make and model available here but it is allowed to be converted? wouldn't it have to pass some sort of inspection?

Really?
Try passing someone on a one-lane (each way) road. You'll have a hard time seeing around them.

Aside from some sort of novelty factor, its still just a TII.

theonlygreat 07-25-03 11:33 AM

if you converted it, you would just be switching some interior parts around as well as a couple steering/heating/eletrical related stuff. a car made for JDM supposedly has different crash/safety standards for the bumpers and side impact stuff(whether they are more or less safe it doesn't matter, just different). and that is why you would have to get it inspected/legalized by state patrol

chexmix78 07-25-03 11:40 AM

cool thanx, so its ok to have or Convert to RH drive as long as you started out with a legal, titled car?
