How much did YOU pay???

Hey fellas, wanted to know how much YOU payed for you TII??? It'll give me a general idea of how much I'll end up paying when I buy mine. Please post the condition of the vehicle aswell. Thanks

Champagne87 08-09-03 04:02 PM

$0

I don't have one. but I paid $1,500 for my n/a.

Dan H 08-09-03 04:05 PM

$2300

It still needs a new paint job and minor cosmetic work for the exterior/interior. It runs fine now but I think I'll get the engine rebuilt next year.

neofreak 08-09-03 04:05 PM

uhm, the poll needs to be expanded, there have been a lot for sale and have been sold for 10k+.

Project84 08-09-03 04:46 PM

Bought a N/A GXL for $1300. Car was listed as $3500 until it developed a coolant seal leak that the piston engine mechanics couldn't figure out. They knew it was a head gasket, they just couldn't find the head:D

mtl x7 08-09-03 05:04 PM

$1000 for NA weeee..but interior is trashed.. no radio and needs new seats....

cmanasseri 08-09-03 05:25 PM

Sorry, not a TII, but an 88 Vert. Paid $1200, and have put about another $1000 into it - Tires, New Top, New exhaust, etc.

knightkarr 08-09-03 05:33 PM

cool, i hope i find a good deal like some of you.

stevensimon 08-09-03 05:36 PM

the guy payed me 50 bucks to get it out of his hair:D cant beat that. only problem is it has the coolant seal leak. but in the rear was a new unassembled block. got the seals for 400 n ebay and my frined is putting the engine together for 75 bucks. so total 425

i_piss_on_hondas 08-09-03 06:03 PM

Got my gxl with a turbo swap for $750 it had a blown motor when I got it... has a few mods... got it for $750 and have about $1200 totall into swapping motors... and I just blew my tranny last night...

87RXGhey7 08-09-03 07:36 PM

Just bought a 87 gxl n/a for 1000. Needs a new paint job and interior needs work. Has 106k miles now, Ive put about 700 miles on it in one week. Fun car. Reason I bought it was because it runs awesome. Mechanically perfect.

liquidferrum 08-09-03 07:58 PM

LMAO project84... i wasnt sure what to answer because i got my car for 1,200 and then got the engine for 600, so i put 1,501-2000

Spent 3000.00 on my 88 vert- all she needed was a coat of wax and some interior plastic. EVERYTHING worked. Clock, cruise, headrest speakers, all the crap that normally breaks. And oh yeah, about 102xxx on the odo...

razorback 08-09-03 09:34 PM

i just spent 2900 on mine and picked it yesterday. here is a description and i will post pics by tomorrow. and the guy included a new 400 dollar cd player with that is xm ready.

This is a 1987 RX7 Turbo 2. 4000 miles on a rebuilt BRIDGEPORTED 89 JDM engine. Parts replaced in the rebuild include 2 peice 2mm Apex seals, the better single Apex seal springs, new corner seals and plugs, upgraded larger corner seal springs, new side seals and springs, new oil seals and o-rings, new silicone encapsulated better than stock water seal o-rings, all new internal gaskets. new thrust bearings and oil pump chain. Also the oil bypass thermostat has been replaced by a solid peice included in the rebuild kit, so the rotors get oil immediately on cold start. New water pump and theremostat. New starter.

All emissions have been removed and blocked off. NO catalytic converters. All vacuum lines and actuators related to emissions have been removed as well. Heater core is not routed in the cooling system. All A/C components discarded. Manual steering rack.

Also installed is a 3-inch aluminum cross-flow radiator, custom downpipe back 3-inch single exhaust, Walbro 255LPH high pressure fuel pump, new inline fuel filter.

4000 miles on ACT 6-puck unsprung hub clutch with Heavy Duty pressure plate, New clutch slave cylinder
Fuel is controlled via HKS Super AFR fuel controller.
Dual A-pillar gauge pod with one air/fuel ratio gauge and one open spot.
Car is currently running factory turbo, ecu, and 550cc primary and estimated 800cc secondaries
There is a very small oil leak where the oil pan seals to the bottom of the engine, not a major problem and can be taken care of cheaply in an afternoon.
The sunroof recently stuck in the closed position and will not open. It appears that a cable has broken.
Car will need a new clutch master cylinder soon.
Exterior

The car has been repainted at some point as the side moulding is body matched in color now, but it shows normal scuffs and scratches. the hood and sunroof have light hail damage on them. The only rust i've noticed are a few bubbles on the sunroof. There is an area of paint that has peeled off of the rear bumper as shown in the pictures.

When the engine was out of the car being rebuilt i took the time to paint the engine bay black to clean things up. also various engine parts have been painted black or silver .

Interior

Both seats show much less wear than any car of it's age, carpet is also very good condition and clean. Both storage bins open and close normally and even lock still, as does the glove box. Power windows, power mirrors, and power antenna all function properly. Factory security system is functional when the doors lock.

88IntegraLS 08-09-03 10:49 PM

I paid $1200 for this good running, 128k mi. 87 base:

West TX RX-7 08-10-03 11:47 AM

I paid way to much. $6500.00 for a Super clean 88k mile TII. Lesson learned, post and read on this forum at least 2 months before buying a car.

So how much did you end up paying to fix that coolant seal leak?

What year is your RX-7?

Phade 08-10-03 08:10 PM

I got my 87 TII for 2600. Had a new OEM engine in it with 10,000 miles on it. The only damage to the car was a spot of rust on the sun roof and the interior was in great condition. I was very happy with it.

ba22 08-10-03 08:20 PM

$17,500 for my 89 NA, but I bought it brand new in 89.

Tec 08-10-03 09:16 PM

rrewq 08-11-03 01:06 PM

$0 86 n/a new paint, suspension etc... needed motor...

Ocelot 08-11-03 04:15 PM

$2900 for an 89' TII with no dings or scratches, but some paint flecs coming off, interior flawless, came with high end speakers in the rear, and a $300 xm reciever/cd player, 102k original miles, and 9k miles on rebuilt engine. My dad actually paid for it, and he's paying for a new paintjob, so $0 for me. All I have to pay for is gas and the new speakers i'm putting in :)

j-spec_wannabe 08-12-03 12:32 AM

razorback 08-31-03 02:09 AM

Ed88convert 08-31-03 11:35 AM

$ 3,300 for an 88 FC3C with 65K miles. Car had been hit on driver's door and stored. Replacement door looked to be in good shape. Had car 10 months now. No unusual problems.

Freaky Monkey007 08-31-03 11:52 AM

Besides the normal ebay/thepartstrader/autotrader/the forum where else you guys look for cars?? Im in the process of looking for a TII that needs some work and just wondered where you guys found yours.

hondahater 08-31-03 02:01 PM

traded my computer for the car. Pretty damn good deal.

razorback 08-31-03 03:37 PM

i found mine on the forum.

knightkarr 08-31-03 04:36 PM

BTW, spending the same amount of money, what would look better, a different color or a very similar color to the original one? Any difference?
Thanks

$100T2 10-28-03 01:27 PM

I paid $100 for mine in near perfect shape...

Of course, that's because my boss was gonna give it to charity...

Mills 10-28-03 04:46 PM

Buy-it-now eBay price of $6500 for a sweet 66,000 mile '91 vert.

Flew down to TX to pick it up, blew rad. hose on way home...

Kai 10-28-03 06:39 PM

$900 for a 125k mile '86 Sport. I dumped a few hundred dollars into it before I drove it home though.:D

Mitsuko28 10-28-03 06:51 PM

I paid around $4500 for mine. I know, I know I paid to much. But it had a rebuilt motor, new paint job, and other little custom things: cd changer built into the bins, cross drilled rotors, and side markers. It came in good condition. The main prob. was an exhaust leak, but I put an exhaust system on it right away so I knew it wouldn't matter.

RotorBalls 10-28-03 06:54 PM

paid 5700 for my 86 sport back in 97 :o

knightkarr 10-28-03 06:58 PM

my left testicle

88mazdarx7turbo 10-29-03 08:33 PM

5g for 58 k miles on orig motor never drivin winter or rain.. show room cond..

gray 87 fc 10-29-03 09:13 PM

500$ for a 87 n/a with a blown injector seal

BioNuke 11-01-03 11:23 PM

2800 for an 88 'vert with 190,000 miles in good condition (cracked radio surround, a few VERY minor chips in paint, and seats need reupholstering)... I'm not sure if its been rebuilt or not... I'm assuming that it hasn't, but cant afford the rebuild now, so I'm hoping the engine will last until I can afford it... I was thinking about swapping for a TII when it goes, but not completely decided on that yet...

That is exactly like mine. Except the huge FMIC in the front of mine :D No spoiler and non painted side strips here. Thats arctic silver.

Oh and I paid $1300 for mine with a "bad water seals." Just needed a radiator and water pump actually. It got a Fluidyne and OEM water pump and was good to go. Now the engine is apart getting rebuilt/ported.

RunningDeer 11-02-03 12:49 PM
