how to disconnect tps.
ok i have searched and searched. and i still havent found out how to do it.
can anybody tell i also have the manual for the rx7 from the factory and all it tells me how to do is to test it. |
All you have to do is unplug it then there is two 10mm nut's and thats all. But why are you wanting to disconnect it for? your car will not run good at all without it!
|
well it runs like shit right now, i mean at low rpms it takes FOREVER to get to 20mph. it feels like its in 4th gear, but yeh im just going to check it out. thanks man.

IIRC, there are three fasteners...the two 6mm bolts you can see from the side and one Phillips head screw on the underside of the throttle body.

No offense, but if you can't figure out how to unplug a sensor, you should immediately step back, close your hood, and don't dick around with anything on the car. Take it to someone who knows what they are doing, even if it if another rx7 owner across town.

well i know how to unplug it.
i didnt know where the screws and shit were. and i rather work on my car and find out how to do shit and then do it, then have somebody else go ahead and do it for me. |
If you just want to know how the car will run (or not, actually) without the TPS, then just unplug it and go for a drive. There's absolutely no need to remove it physically.
On s5 cars with the screw on the bottom of the TB, I never reinstall that one. It's not necessary and it makes the TPS swap a 15-20 minute job instead of the 3 minute job it should be. |

I found it weird and counterintuitive that Mazda used hex head bolts on the two accessible fasteners and a Phillips on the bottom one. Odd decision, that. |

LOL, I thought the phillips head was something that wasn't stock. I was cursing the previous owner for everything he was worth when I ran into that one.
