HKS Super AFR install questions
 

when installing the afr on the S5 which wire ( pin on ecu ) do i tap for the RPM signal. and then when i get past that what type of air meter does it have hot wire (0-5v) , hot wire (5-0v) , karmen vortex, or pressure sensor thanks for the help

Fellow S-AFR user, checking in.

We use a 0-5V hot wire, meaning dip switches 1 and 2 are both "Off" (up.)

I took a photo for you of the wiring diagram for an S5. "I" is the RPM input. It says "Turbo," but it's the same as the N/A.

hmm that S-AFR has been popping up a lot lately. I think Im gonna get one instead of the AFC, just to try something new.

I like it because it is small (1/4 DIN, it fits in half the equalizer slot in my head unit adapter plate) and it doesn't have the huge "STEAL ME!" blue screen that the S-AFC has... but it will still adjust the A/F ratio just as well. I'm amazed they didn't catch on sooner, I've had mine since last April. They only go for about $120-150 used, I got mine for $150 shipped and have been loving it ever since. ;)

The tach (RPM) signal is at "1G" top row, 4th from the right.

Meter type is "flap".

I think that's an S-AFC setting. S-AFR's only have few dip switches to adjust the output. In our case, we set it to "Hot Wire (0-5V)" since that is what the AFM outputs.Works just peachy for me. The three digit RPM readout takes a little while to get used to, but after that, all is good. :)

i have a new one of these for sale (sold the old one to corbit) and was going to use it on my car but decided not to. pm me for price and details.

What about the DIP switch 3 and 4?
3 is for the EIDS function and 4 is the self learning function.

Very cool - I like the install. Sorry I didn't have those body panels for you last month, did you get them from the junkyard? I see you have red interior - Do you need any red interior stuff. I've got a complete red interior just taking up space.

Leave number three "off." Number four is turned "on" when you start the car for the first time with it in, it activates the self-learning mode. Set the number of cylinders (4 for two rotor use.) Be sure all power accessories are off (lights, wipers, radio, AC, etc.) and allow the car to fully warm up. Flip it off, and you're good to go.
I'm still working out some deals now... I don't need any interior parts at the moment that I can think of offhand, unless you happen to have some red 2+2's kicking around.

I dont have the red rear seats myself. I got a set of grey I'm trying to get rid of..but no help to you. I know of a very small junkyard in the Tidewater area where I grew up. About 4 months ago I was there and they had just gotten a red S4 GXL with red interior and back seats. They were in really good condition. If you'd be interested, I can get you a phone number or stop by and get you a price.

In the manual it says turn it off when u 1st start and then off when it's warmed up?

In not sure what you're talking about... my manual copy doesn't say that. You turn it on to accessory (not running engine on!) to set the number of "cylinders."

After that, you start the engine and follow the self-calibration procedure. :)

what I meant was that #4 is actually turned off when u 1st start the car and then turned on :)

have you installed it yet and how do you like it so far?

I got mine in but have yet to get it tuned. HEFFboost has a wide ban and is cool enogh to help me to get her in tune. But i do like it , thanks for the good deal on it. Did you ever get your halfbridge up and running ?

It's installed and dyno tuning is gonna happen next week :)

Well, it got a little tricky in what I was saying, sorry if it was confusing. When I said "on" and "off" for the self learning mode, I ment the opposite since it's "on" in the "off" position. You turn it "off" by turning the switch "on"

Follow that? Me neither. ;)
