HKS SSQV Flutter Qs, I'VE SEARCHED!

i just wanna know how many ppl out there other than myself are having the same situation...

'88 FC TII
Custom TID
High Flow Filter w/ MAF Adapter
Defi Boost Gauge
HKS SSQV

otherwise car is stock

i just installed the SSQV and i'm getting the fluttering sound...i was trying to find out what everyone else did or didn't do to try and remedy this....someone made a point of the rotary's not getting enough vaccuum, but my car gets easily 25 in. of merc when off throttle...the car makes about 6 - 7psi, but still i only get the flutter...like three "whoop, whoop, whoop"...anybody have any ideas? the only thing attached the vaccuum line on the BOV is the boost gauge....i'm going to try and use a dedicated line for the BOV, and i'll also look for any possible boost leaks on the rubber turbo inlet tubes...

Which vac nipple is it hooked up to?

If you searched....you missed the biggest thread on this issue ;)

It appears to be the MO of this BOV on the RX-7... espcially if you have a fmic.

The ONLY advice I have gotten that makes any damn sense...is to remove the insert inside the BOV. That purple thing in there...take that out. I need to do that....see what happens.

I tried many different vacuum sources....vacuum is no the issue. You should have some nice compressor surge happening...I took my filter off..and reved the car and could feel air coming out of the tid.

different insets make different 'sounds' the flutter is what most people who want to hear thier BOV, strive for.. thier is a gold insert that may be what you need. You could also have a knock off SSQV , they are very very close and it's very hard to tell them apart, unless you take it apart and compare the insides.. if you have a knock off .. then it won't ever set up properly.

Seriously...

The inserts for the BOV change the sound, a little, very little. There are 3 of them total, the silver one that comes in it stock and the gold and purple ones you can buy. The gold one is IDENTICAL to the stock silver one, and the purple one makes a lower pitched sound. Running it without one makes it sound like a Greddy, the big whoosh noise.

Taking the insert out is not going to stop compressor surge, unless you have a super magic bov or something. Be happy with the flutter! Embrace the flutter! Love the flutter! It loves you!

Do you embrace your flutter?

Is there a spring adjustment on the ssqv? If not then just run higher boost(haha!) or get a softer spring.

dont run bov for mucho flutter
HA!

Heh, my car doesn't even have a motor in it right now!

But when it did, hell yes I embraced the flutter!

Get a ball-bearing turbo and flutter that beast all day long!
