HKS filter VS K&N filter

Just wondering about this subject of which filter is really better. I personaly preffer to use K&N but my car came with the HKS an i dont know if i should change it or not. Wondering about everyone here's opinion.

i have a k&n but the hks seem to be just as good

k&n is easier to clean, but takes up more room. HKS also drys up and crumbs get sucked back into your intake.

i'd go with an K&N over the hks

but i've heard really good things about the apexi filter

gus5891 10-11-06 05:31 PM

any opinion on which one gives more power?

SpooledupRacing 10-11-06 05:34 PM

I think they both are quite effective however remember it is all about usable air filter surface area I still stand behind the K&N and always will but I have used the Apexi, blitz and hks filters and they are fine

gus5891 10-11-06 05:38 PM

yeah well me personally i have always used K&N but like i said my car came with the HKS i was about to change it an some frieds told me that it was a high performace reuseable air filter so i didnt change it but i'm still really thinkin about it cause i'm an original K&N person. I have had amazin results from K&N an im still unsure about this HKS thing

if u end up selling the hks filter let me know ill prolly buy it from ya!

I have the HKS and had no problems for the last 4 years, When it get dirty I just replace it for $25 every year.

read this

HKS is the worst one there

gus5891 10-11-06 06:01 PM

yeah thanks mazdadude that really put it in the view i was lookin for altho the apexi looks the best i think i would still go with the K&N just cause its always done me right. I have also noticed that performance an cleanliness isnt everything tho i have in the past noticed fuel milage gains using the K&N filter. has anyone here had a simalar affect

SpooledupRacing 10-11-06 06:11 PM

like I said let me know if u wanna sell it

is it that obvious

just make sure the filter is clean...... heck you should make sure the filter is clean regardless if you have a hks or k&n...

you wont see many gains from just an intake... well your car might sound different

since you are new i suggest keeping your car as stock as possible and driving the piss out of it. youll enjoy your car that way way more than by modding it.

have fun with your fc!!
