Help!! S5 N/A swap problems
I just swapped a new rebuilt engine into my GXL. It would crank over all day long, I have checked numerous things and still it will not start. I have changed the complete engine harness to a known to be working one and still it will just crank. I changed the upper and lower intake manifolds thinking it might help, but no it didnt do anything.
<<if it matters, the OMP was blocked off and all the plugs/ hoses were blocked off so I could pre-mix>> Can anyone help me diagnose my problem? Does anyone have an OBD 1 I can borrow in or near Orange County? Anything you guys can think of post it or PM me as I need to get this running let me know. |
OBD 1???
There is not such thing on a FC... you could make a tester out of a couple of LEDs and resistors, but there is no such thing as a ODB 1 diagnostic tester. |

Usually motors don't start due to lack of spark and fuel not being injected. Both depend on the ENGINE fuse being good and the EGI fuses being good. A digital meter is of more use to you right now than any other thing. Plus the FSM which can be downloaded for free from this site and the wiring diagrams. |
i have the same problem, it wouldnt start until I pushed the lever inside teh afm then it would start and idle weird. I think it could be afm. I have as4 afm on a s5 na motor could that be why?????If i let go ofthe lever inside the afm it will just die..

Try this and see if it works. Go to the fuel pump check connector (yellow, two socket plug near the right front strut tower area) and jumper it. Then try starting the engine again without pushing the internals of the afm. EDIT: NEVER mind. I read your other post. You have bascically a series four car/ECU/harness/AFM. |
