I have a 88 gxl (got it from a impound for $250:cool: )
it had a cracked block(block seal ;) ), engin fire, and no radio. i had it runing but untill last week i just cant get it started . also i am geting a 91 which is wrecked in the rear. but it has a new motor which i will use in the gxl but all the wiring is fried (and i dont know what is what in there) in the gxl and i dont know if the 91 computer and wiring will work as i want the auto tune suspension to work any feed back is greatly apreciated |

I see a few 90-91's on the bay that need a motor. i would part out the 88, find a 89> that only needs a engine and do a simple swap.

you have ALOT of work ahead of you....
putting the 91 engine is not a direct swap. you will need parts from both the 88 and 91 to make it work. |
do you know what i need to do or where i can find the info

There is one quick way to put the 91 motor in the 88, put in a microtech or a haltech.

I guess you could look at the wiring diagrams for each model and go from there, but that's going to be a real pain. FYI the auto adjust suspension didn't really do anything worthwhile even when it was new, your 15 year old shocks are probably blown by now anyway, and I don't think you want to price replacements if you have a weak heart. Most people just chuck the AAS shocks in the trash and replace them with a nice, affordable, user-adjustable shock like the KYB AGX or Tokico Illumina. |
