chinkst3r 09-16-07 05:33 PM

LOL, thats very vague... can u be more specific?

rx7-kid 09-16-07 05:35 PM

more info about the idle issue. the more, the better for us to tell you what the problem most likely will be. For now i would say its a vac issue.

chinkst3r 09-16-07 05:36 PM

thats most likely it, have you checked your TPS?

FCED89 09-16-07 05:37 PM

lol sry..well i took of the a.c.v,o.m.p, removed the vac lines..blocked all the holes but it still wont idle..i have to hold it runnin with my foot

i was told to go to this site and i did everything is said to do but it still doesnt work

http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/2n...s_removal.html

ne one know?

Aaron Cake 09-16-07 06:20 PM

Sounds like another botched emissions removal. :)

It's likely that you mixed up a vacuum nipple, or you have a vacuum leak somewhere. You'll need to go through you work and confirm that you did not mix up any hoses or create any leaks.

incubuseva 09-16-07 06:57 PM

Sorry to thread jack, but what is the AWS hose? Its in pic 13. I have that capped off cause my idle went all funky, but haven't had problems since then.

FCED89 09-17-07 12:04 AM

i have everything pluged good i know for sure i do

chinkst3r 09-17-07 01:01 AM

is it only on cold start that it wont idle? or it wont idle while warm either?

FCED89 09-17-07 01:19 AM

both it runs better warm but still wont idle

micah 09-17-07 02:18 AM

Did you swap your fuel lines on the rails?

Cwaters 09-17-07 07:41 AM

AFM unplugged?

Its probably bad practice to assume everything is wired/plugged in correctly if its not working, even more so if your car was working fine before you touched it. :)

Its a half-assed emmisions removal job imo.

I wouldn't even start if that was the case.

dw89s5 09-17-07 08:08 AM

it would start with out the afm it runs off the ecu for a little bit
might as well check everything anyway

What?!? The fuel pump is directly connected to the AFM fyi. The ECU doesn't need the afm for the seconds but the fuel pump needs the afm anyhow.

dw89s5 09-17-07 08:40 AM

he is getting fuel he can keep it running with his foot so its not the pump

im just saying it sounds like a botched emissions removal not a fuel problem

Spectator 09-17-07 08:57 AM

I never said it was a fuel problem. I said that the AFM is connected to the fuel pump directly. If the afm is removed/unplugged ( like you suggested) its like having no fuel pump. So its not a good idea to do that if you wanna test why your car doesn't idle.

When you did this emissions removal, did you also remove the cold start thermowax and BAC valve?

Are you sure there are no vacuum leaks? Your symptoms suggest there are multiple large leaks.

FCED89 09-17-07 09:44 AM

yes i did..and ive looked and looked for leaks and i havnt found ne

dw89s5 09-17-07 09:49 AM

it may sound dumb but would it be possible to use carb cleaner to help find vacuum leaks?

FCED89 09-17-07 09:52 AM

like how would u use it

oh and just so everyone knows if the AFM isnt pluged in it idles....

dw89s5 09-17-07 09:56 AM

i think u just solved your own problem
sounds like your AFM is crap

FCED89 09-17-07 09:59 AM

thats wat ive been thinking i have a newish one my friends going to bring over to try

GarageAlchemist 09-17-07 10:37 AM

car shouldnt run without AFM, mine didnt.
