help just bought an afm???

Aight i just bought an afm off of ebay and the door wont open by hand it works it just wont stay started what could be the problem

So, this is an S4 AFM? And the door won't open if you push on it? That'd be a broken AFM. You can open it up and have a look.

Yeah its a s4 ane i opened it and the first contact it touches and it wont go past it, its a long silver piece

No idea what you're referring to exactly, but there shouldn't be anything to stop the motion of the door. Maybe the spring is broken and has gotten jammed in the mechanism.

Start by getting the FSM. Read it. Then follow the instructions on there to diagnose your car. Sorry to be so vague but it sounds like one of those issues people here are just going to throw ideas at and you will be running around in circles.

In all fairness, I think a mod merged the threads, lol. Hence the title in post # 5.

Thanks guys and i have a flat spot in my tps what do these cars act like when the tps is going bad

RotaryRocket88 06-03-10 02:23 PM

A dead spot in the TPS sweep can cause little hesitations and/or a bouncy idle.
