Help with identifying FC front bumper?

Hi all,

I have just recently purchased an RX7 FC3S which is being imported from Japan, apologies for the lack of pictures and the awkward angle but I was just wondering if anyone could help me identify what front bumper this car has come with?

I've spent a little while going through as many 'Front Bumper guide' & bumper ID posts in hopes to find it but I can't seem to see it anywhere.

TIA!!

Been told it's likely a Yours Sports bumper? Hard to say but I know they did offer atleast 3 variants of the front bumpers (Type A/B/C) maybe even more?

Has also been mentioned it could be a modified Yours Sports bumper

Hard to find any information on this as the company seems to be long discontinued now and I assume it's impossible to reach out to them.

Anyone know anything about Yours Sports or would be able to point me in the right direction with this? Cheers

more photos

Hi all,

Got a few more photos which show the bumper properly. Still leaning towards it being a modified Yours Sports bumper but thought I'd share in case anyone can recognise it and say for certain what it is.
Seems like the larger Flash-To-Pass cut outs were actually somewhat common amongst other FC bumpers hence me still having a little doubt.

Would also be very handy if anyone had a rough idea on how much these sell for if it is a Yours Sports bumper? I understand they only come once in a blue moon, and this one isn't really my cup of tea so would likely be looking to sell it on.

Cheers

It's hard to put a value on that...
Because it's unusual, it will either be highly valuable to the right person, or too odd duck to be desirable to anyone.
You'd likely do best selling it local to you, vs paying to ship it and risk damage.
Is there a pretty active rx7 scene in your area?

pretty much, shipping a bumper isn't cheap and value depends on who is willing to pay what. post ads and start high, local preferred because the shipping cost is going to come out of your profits.

Yeah this makes sense, it's a shame really as looking through old posts theres a few people who seemed to of loved this bumper but all many years ago now. It's a bit marmite, sometimes i like it sometimes I don't, but I may end up just running it myself then for the time being atleast.

Unfortunately theres not many FCs at all in the UK. I just checked the owners group and I think some owners came to the conclusion there's around 200 FCs left in the uk (including verts), most of which are SORN'd (registered as off the road), so I can only assume there will be very little interest here.

Yeah good idea thanks for the suggestion, wont case scenario I might just sell it nationwide in the UK and put it up for auction with a sensible reserve and see if I can sell it on if I end up not using it.

Cheers!

This just blows my mind. A couple of friends from the UK came over for DGRR and I let them drive my dead stock 1988 SE on the Dragon. They were also telling me that there are almost no FCs left in the UK. I would imagine the value of the FC is eventually going to be higher there than here due to rarity. It does not sound as if you are going to be seeing many other FCs on the road or at shows with you.

Wow!! That's amazing, throughout the hours and hours I've spent trying to find any little bits of information I've never come across this. Is this your own catalogue? Thank you for sharing!

I believe 'Borgh' was short for 'Borgh Achieve' which seemed to be a package Yours Sports sold, if I remember correctly, essentially modifying a new one and upgrading it with their body panels, bigger turbo, injectors, ECU and so on. They usually ended up with a big widebody kit, nice wheels and some strong power behind it too! Some pics below.

I'm not certain if this is right but I've tried to use a translator and it seems my front bumper is either the SPL one or the Type C bumper, which sold for around £800 or £650 respectively, although this could be off, but good to know as a price point as I likely wouldn't be looking to sell it for less than it cost new now that its a long defunct company and rare part.

Yeah it is mental! From my understanding the convertibles sold best, although we did get a few coupes, we had very limited sales in general. That combined with our climate and us salting our roads in the winter meant that over time most of them have rusted away and were scrapped. Even now, with the few that are left my understanding is that its very hard to find one which isn't rotten. Convertibles seem to sell around £5-10k which I still find surprising as they seem to be less desired nowadays, N/A coupes can still be had under £10k for a nice clean one, and clean turbo 2 models seem to be around £20k+, although the three that have been up recently were all £22.5-25k, and a few months back, one sold for around £32k somehow!
Seems the cheapest way into a solid turbo 2 coupe is to import one from Japan now, even then the importers suggest £17k although that does include every fee too, I luckily managed to get mine a decent bit under that.

Congrats on the purchase and thank you for the offer that's very kind - if its not too much of a bother, is there any chance you'd be able to send a photo of the page which shows the FC bumpers?

Still struggling with coming up with a price. I'm in the UK and I highly doubt I'll get anywhere near what its worth, and unfortunately it wouldn't be practical nor cost effective to ship it abroad

Yeah no problem, soon as it comes in ill post it. If its worth anything, ive imported bumper covers from japan before to texas and it was 500ish bucks shipping if thats worth anything.

Im pretty sure BORGH is a subset of YOURSPORTS as ive seen items for sale over there that say "borgh by yoursports"

Google seems to agree.
Google seems to agree.

I spend hours a day browsing parts in japan (its an illness and helps keep my japanese proficiency). There are similar knockoff bumper covers that go for about $400 usd unpainted undamaged. Yours is in fantastic shape and has value if you can prove its authentic. They are usually cracked or missing mounting points. I feel like these sell for around $1200usd before shipping. Sometimes the whole front end clip is sold for around $2500 usd

Heres a pandem bumper i can get for $900ish USD. these are more common than the yoursports id say.

I also noticed youre missing the lens that came with the bumper. They go in the holes so lights can be seen while down. That would affect your valuation but would be easily fixed by fabbing new ones up.

Definitely good to know, I expect the UK to the US or Japan will cost just as much if not more so would rather be aware, thanks for the heads up!

I think you're right about Borgh being a subset of Yours Sports, usually I see 'Borgh Achieve' which seemed to be a complete package that Yours Sports would sell - from my understanding they took a standard FC3S and modified it with Yours Sports cosmetic parts and a few engine upgrades to push out some higher power. These often featured very wide fenders with the rest of the typical Yours Sports kit.

Very good to know! Unfortunately the photos I had showed my FC before it was put on the RORO Vessel, the shipping company did unfortunately crack and chip the bumper but my importers have a sister company which specialises in bodywork so I believe they're going to get it fixed - if not I'll take it to a professional body shop and get it fixed as best as possible.

Yeah the Pandem bumper does seem quite expensive! Think theres only one or two guys in the UK I've seen that runs them, I imagine you must have deep pockets to get the full kit for one of these.

Yes unfortunately it seems whoever purchased this kit never bought the optional extra acrylic lenses! Is a shame as I quite liked the look with the lenses on, plan is to fab some myself like you said and get it bonded on!

Fell off a shelf at fedex in the customs area on November 6th. Absolutely no customer support via internet or phone. They even hung up on me during a customer survey. Ill post it here if it ever actually makes it.

Ah man I'm sorry to hear that, most of these shipping companies are useless, that's a massive PITA! Hopefully they're able to locate it😔

Well fedex lost it. Sorry I won't be able to help. I had a rare parts manual for the infini4 model in there too. Very unfortunate ive only seen one pop up in last 4 years.
