HELP! Can't change gears & weird noisee
Help! I can't change gears. When I try to put it into reverse there is a grinding noise. It won't go into any other gear. Before, when I was driving the old girl, and I stopped at a light she would creep forward when she was in gear. I thought it might be a problem with my master and slave cyldener. What do you think?
Do I also have a cluch problem, or is it the master and slave? 148,000 miles. No rebuilds. Thanks for your help. Doug |
Adjust the clutch pedal. The clutch fork isnt pressing on the pressure plate enough to disengage the clutch.

And definitely check out the clutch slave cylinder as well. Cheap to replace, or easy to rebuild.

I thought it might be the cluch master cyliner, but why do you think I should adjust the cluch petel? Never happened before.
Thanks again for your advice. |
I would say clutch slave cylinder...my friend had a problem similar to this with his 240sx, and that fixed it...

Because adjusting your clutch pedal is cheaper than replacing the slave/master. But having your clutch partially engage at stop lights (like you said it was) will quickly ruin a clutch also. Adjust your pedal, then look at the slave.
