Headlights not working - Where to start?
 

Hey guys,

I posted a thread yesterday about a 1988 FC RX-7 that was having issue with the instrument gauge and exterior lights. Luckily some of the outside lights work, but no turn signals or headlights. Before I bought it he had to replace the dimmer switches and they worked for a day, but after that it stopped working. I have no experience in working with electrical so my questions:

1. Where do I start when trying to find the cause?
2. What about fuses and relays? I know the headlight fuse is in the engine bay, but what about relays?
3. Would the dimmer switches really be the issue? It sounds like it was fine, there was no need to replace them.

Could be several things and it probably is. There are several relays located in front of the radiator. The first relay wrt the RHS of car is the dimmer relay and the next relay is the headlight relay. Check these relays (https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...orking-933448/). May also be your headlight switch and/or your wiring harness at the headlights.

No turn signals may be due to a bad flasher CPU, which is located at driver's side kick panel (https://www.atkinsrotary.com/store/E...-Systems/CPUs/).

No dash lights may be due to either a bad light switch or light switch harness or burnt out bulbs (https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...cation-275710/).

I managed to work out the issue with the headlights, a relay has gone out. Does anyone have a part number that I can use to find one?

I believe this is the p/n GE70-67-740. It's a 4-pin 12V, 30A N.O. relay. If there's a number on the side your relay, than I would suggest just Googling that number to find a replacement.

That's not the right one, this is a 5-pin 20A FB02 relay. This is what it looks like:
