Headlights

Anyone know where I can get some headlights like these
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...duct_thumb.jpg
I have been lookin for em for a lil while and have come up empty handed. Thanks.

phoenix7 09-25-07 03:15 PM

those are EASTBEAR lights and i don't think anyone makes them anymore. Maybe ebay or on the forums but whoever has them are not letting them go because they don't make them anymore.

 frogeyes.

chatchie 09-25-07 05:10 PM

I've been looking too, those kits are like gold, good luck.

luna_c666 09-25-07 06:20 PM

HEAR HEAR!! Someone needs to make replicas of these, I posted a thread almost EXACTLY LIKE THIS ONE...let me guess, that's the version select body kit from andy's auto sport.com?? LOL I would fabricate my own if I knew how to work fiberglass, hell I've considering carving them out of wood!!
So if any fabricators are reading...

HERE"S THE POLL!
WHO WANTS THESE? WHO WOULD PAY SOMEONE TO MAKE A REPLICA?
CHIME IN, MAYBE SOMEONE WILL SEE A PROFIT AND WE"LL ALL GET OUR HEADLIGHTS!!

luna_c666 09-25-07 06:22 PM

As a matter of fact, I was looking at starting a new thread when I caught this one, someone should start one titled something like "Fabricators wanted!!" Or something like "Eastbear Headlights, who wants replicas?" and something might get accomplished..

phoenix7 09-25-07 06:24 PM

I'll pass.

luna_c666 09-25-07 06:28 PM

I'd like to see those with some angel eyes...
I've also been looking at making dual headlights that still flip with hella bulbs, I hear 90mm, anyone got any suggestions? Or what about making that sleepy eyes look dual halos? That would be awesome, probably very bright on the road too.

phoenix7 09-25-07 07:02 PM

no on both counts.

You can use Hella 90mm high and low beams and make THOSE sleepy eyes but sleepy halos are for homos.

bl00dlust 09-25-07 07:05 PM

someone should definatly replicate these, i would buy them!!!

luna_c666 09-25-07 07:18 PM

Thank you so much, I agree and I'm glad not EVERYONE on these forums are BUZZKILLERS

phoenix7 09-25-07 07:35 PM

go start a new thread over at the ShineAutoProject subforum and lin.k it to your signature. Find a guy that owns them and is willing to let SAP make a mold of them and maybe you can get some :dunno:

relax man, it's just an opinion. I think they're ugly but if you like them then get them. I just don't like things that are too riceriffic or that take away from the RX7's lines and those bulging thingies don't look good to me. You'll find that most of the noobs will like them (with the exception of the original owner who happens to be an OLD member of this forum).

splitzo 09-25-07 08:51 PM

Hey yeah thanx phoenix but uh you can just jump the hell outta here now haha since all you do is talk down. Hellz yeah lets do that, "Find a guy that owns them and is willing to let SAP make a mold of them and maybe you can get some" haha

SayNoToPistons 09-25-07 09:39 PM

Yuck... They're disgusting.

phoenix7 09-26-07 02:18 PM

umm what was wrong with that? In order to get SAP to make a copy you need to find an original. You need to find the forum member who owns it (he exists) and ask if he's willing to let SAP make a copy of them AND then YOU'LL BE ABLE to buy them.

some people are just such pussies when it comes to negativity. If everyone agreed with everyne else we'd have a bunch of riceriffic rx7's as bad as the hondas we all love to hate.

13bchris 09-26-07 05:51 PM

im new and i dont like the look of those. if heaven forbid i did change my headlights id rather get the FC2000 headlights, but id prefer the stockers with a H.I.D. conversion and some nice JDM fogs...mmmmmmmm

phoenix7 09-26-07 05:56 PM

stop being such a downer, it makes people upset.

Plus what's the difference between Stock S5 fogs and JDM ones? the yellow tint.

luna_c666 09-26-07 06:09 PM

What are the fc2000? The re-a kit? or something else, please post a pic..

luna_c666 09-26-07 06:10 PM

If you are referring to the re-ameyama (or however its spelled) it is a bumper, not just headlights

phoenix7 09-26-07 06:17 PM

yeah he was talking about the RE-Amemiya front bumper headlights.

http://homepage.mac.com/owen_the_soy...m/whammy13.jpg

The Shaolin 09-26-07 06:20 PM

if I could get a set to make a mold from, I could certainly make replicas.

nitronatefc 09-26-07 06:21 PM

THIS PIC of THIS CAR at THAT ANGLE is the only way the Eastbear kit looks good. Kinda good. Barely good. Not even really that good. More of a "You learn to hate it" type of good. I know, because I wanted the same kit when I bought my 1st 7 a few years ago. Find a pic of the Knightsport headlight kit. Then you won't want these silly lights anymore

phoenix7 09-26-07 06:24 PM

but then the same thing happens with the knightsports headlights. The more you look at them they less you like them.

Thats sooooooooooooo foul!! Why not just stick with the stock flip ups and get hid? Stock flip ups are sexy.

phoenix7 09-26-07 06:37 PM

I don't think that pic does the headlights justice though.

pingpong 09-26-07 07:00 PM

Reminds me of frog eyes. Personally, I think that it detracts from the overall smoothness and sharpness of the front (but then again, I do like big wings and ricey hoods). To everyone there own.

JDM fogs? Are you a fuckin' drift bunny? You think slide-ways is the only way to ride-ways? Uhh, the fog lights on S5 cars are factory all over the world. And new? Nothing screams new like not searching for stuff or getting a car and saying" I want what he's got! What is it?" It sounds like you got your start in the not so educated realm of tuning(Cheap Honda, Ebay, and Rota) so do your self a favor and research first. Nothing legit for car is cheap and nothing expensive is without a reason.

chatchie 09-26-07 09:31 PM

What makes them attractive is the rarity. People want em cause they cant have em.

luna_c666 09-26-07 10:24 PM

I want them because with the luck I've been having with this car I'm probably going to have my headlight motors fail anyhow...I had an 88 firebird that did that, had to leave them up all the time, nothing sexy about that. I'm already dishing out 2-3k for my engine work as we speak!

RX7KENN 09-26-07 10:27 PM

ghey

phoenix7 09-27-07 02:25 PM

seriously, if you really are interested contact ShineAutoProject (SAP) and see if they can help you out. Get enough ppl interested and you might be able to own a copy. quit defending it and do something about it.

2-3K for engine work isn't too bad. What's getting done? porting or just rebuild?

luna_c666 09-27-07 02:35 PM

I already am talking to Ken, thanks for referring me to them, I have a rebuild short block from ernst at rx7 world, then I'm doing the clutch, no ports, just gonna try to tune it to run as best I can. I have upgraded seals and corner springs, only 2mm, but I'm gonna run a good cold air intake kit and see about tuning up my ecu. This will be my road car until I can afford a TII upgrade, I am making this 88 a project car. Probably get a nice body kit, new interior, r134a upgrade, good stereo and such.. My engine blew at 160,000 because the guy who sold it to me told me he had just changed the oil and I like an idiot didn't check it on the 100+mile drive home. Blew about 60 miles later, both rotors had no compression. Had to push it to the side of the road. Bought this thing for 1900 and before I even get to drive it to work I have to double its cost to me..that's the luck I'm talking about. Ran like a champ when I test drove it...knew it was too good to be true.

luna_c666 09-27-07 02:36 PM

And so I ordered a motor and it showed up and the shipping company had dropped it! Broke the bell housing, but ernst replaced it almost completely, everything but the rotors and rotor housings pretty much.

luna_c666 09-27-07 02:38 PM

Anyone have any suggestions that would unlock some more power in this stock ecu? Anything that will give me that 5-10 hp boost? Anyone know if the heat-shielded intake gasket is worth the $60?

phoenix7 09-27-07 02:50 PM

SAFC, RB true duals (road-race system), keep the stock intake until you can build your own cold air box.

luna_c666 09-27-07 03:40 PM

any suggestions on the safc? I don't have much bread at the moment, I know, you get what you pay for...
and any good tuts on building a cold air box?
Thanks for the advice.

The problem with stock flips or any flip-up headlights is that they look great when down, but when up they cause drag and change the car's high speed stability. I know this because I have owned numerous flip-up headlight cars(ie; MR-2, FB and FC RX-7, and a Miata) and I can definently tell a difference when driving at highways speeds with the headlights up. I actually try to not turn my lights on when on the highway unless absolutely necessary(ie; night) because of the weird handling feel they can create. That's why non flip-ups can be superior.

unless you're jesus bread won't help you much. an SAFC is a brand (Apex-i S-AFC) not a generic term (fuel controller). You can find cheap SAFC's or SAFCII's on ebay. 1/16" thick sheets of metal, put them together in the shape of a box and put your filter in there. Search for "AAI" or Ambient Air Intake

I don't know how sensitive GSL-SE is when it comes to cars and flip ups but I can honestly say I've never felt the "drag" he claims on neither the miata or the countless FCs I've owned. Maybe i'm not driving fast enough.

85rx-7gsl-se 09-27-07 04:52 PM

The main issue car was my MK1 MR-2 and it wasn't as much of a drag feeling as much as a front-end lift feel.

Boosted11 09-27-07 07:26 PM

This style reminds me of a integra:

http://www.autonav2000.com/images/Sc...95_Green_1.jpg

luna_c666 09-27-07 08:55 PM

Another thing, my stock flipups POP really loud when I put them down, but they still move fast. Any ideas?

Honda600rr420 09-27-07 09:05 PM

hmm i took body school for 4 years i might start makin these im great with fiberglass seems to be a demand for these light ima keep everyone posted as i am going to try and replicate these lights any idea on the size of the bulbs in the headlights??

luna_c666 09-27-07 09:31 PM

90mm lenses I think, the owner's name is 20b10ae on teamfc3s forums, I've tried contacting him earlier but haven't gotten a reply yet. Maybe you can ask him to take measurements? I told him about all the buzz and that I've been talking to ken at SAP about maybe finding a pair to mold and produce. I was thinking of using the 90mm hella headlamps, one is high beam the other low. HID would be a nice option too, and maybe even angel eye lenses? What do you think? It would definitely give the FC crowd more options..

luna_c666 09-27-07 09:32 PM

Definitely keep me posted personally, pm me. I would like to see what all this entails and be in on some of the design aspects maybe?

Honda600rr420 09-27-07 09:37 PM

i will keep you bosted i am gonna go to the local parts house tomm and see what kinda lights i can find close/ similar to these i will be starting hopefully this weekend if all goes as planned id like to maket these and sell them since there in such demand i will keep you posted with pics on how they come out btw thanks for the info

Honda600rr420 09-27-07 09:38 PM

btw any idea on the size of integra lights they do look very similar in size to these headlights if so i can go pick those up for cheap to mock something out

Dude that sucks, I just picked up a 90 vert and drove it 200+ miles home with no problems. Well except for the no stereo thing, I cant sing for shit! lol I toped off the oil checked all fluids and pulled the plugs before I took off. The car has the dreaded idle problem but ran like a raped ape on the highway. As for these headlights Im still up in the air, I like em then I dont.

Honda600rr420 09-27-07 10:07 PM

please let me know on the ligtht size if anyone know ima seriously make these if at all possible this weekend i allready got the plans laid out and the light out of my fc to take demension measurments??!!

luna_c666 09-27-07 10:16 PM

I have seen many mods using the 90mm hellas but I dont know the actual measurements of the lights. Gimme a minute, maybe I can make a grid in photoshop and get some scale measurements, they will be rough but they might help. I would also suggest instead of the integra lights, which I think are too large, you should buy a cheap kit for the fd on ebay maybe? and use those instead. You may be able to alter the style abit, maybe slant the valleys in toward the middle a bit?? Make it smmmmmmmooooooooooothhhhhhherrrrrrrr.....

luna_c666 09-27-07 10:17 PM

how wide are the headlight covers where they meet the hood? in inches please? I'd measure mine but its in the SHOP...
