headlight problems

i was driving and noticed that the fuse blew out for the tail and interior lights.

so to run it home i took the 20amp fuse out of the radio and put it for the lights.

i turned on the lights and my right headlight started rolling smoke.

i shut off the switch to my lights, that shut my lights off put not my parking lights. so i had to disconnect the battery. and know when i hook the battery up my parking lights turn on as well and nothing smokes.

Headlights are unrelated to the parking and dash lights. They are not even on the same fuse. The only thing common, is that they use the same ****, but internally to the switch, there is not even anything common.

The headlight switch, switches ground to turn on the headlights, while it sends out positive for the dash and parking lights.

But you never ever ever put a larger fuse in. That is just asking for a fire.

It is possible that when you put a too large fuse in for the parking and dash lights and the harness or light switch was burnt, the wires burnt together, but even then the worst that would happen is that the headlights would not come up or on.
