The relays are soldered in, and not a pop in replacement.

And if they had failed the hazards wouldn't work.

 

well there is no ecu, as i chunked the **** for a SBF with a carb.

is the ECU needed to run turn signals? why

 

No you need a CPU.

A CPU is the body computer that controls the horn, turn signals, brake lights, key lights, warnings, etc.

The ECU controls the engine.

 

where is the cpu (body computer) you speak of?

also where is the incoming power wire for it?

The CPU is located in the driver's kick panel. It is the tall black box with 3 plugs (2 on the S5).

There are several incoming power wires. what circuit do want?

The power for the Hazard/ turn signals is Black/blue, but you don't need that as you already know the hazards work.

 

It's not like a domestic at ALL in that sense?

You can't just pop in a new turn-flasher unit (the cylindrical 2 or 3 pronged one's available at auto stores)?

The flasher circuit for the Hazards and Turn signals is a chip controlled relay board in the CPU. Not some cheapo flasher can (thank god).

Besides the fact that his hazards works, rules out the flasher section is bad. More than likely his turn signal switch is bad, or disconnected, or the CPU needs resoldering on the inputs from the turn signal switch.

 

ok where is the cpu located??? is it in the ECU box?? if so i dont have it anymore i did a motor swap and went carburated i sold my rx7 ecu. if its in there how can i fix this issue without getting another ecu?

 

I think you are confusing the CPU and the ECU. They are two totally different things. The CPU that icemark is talking about is in the driverside kick panel. The ECU is under a metal door beneath the passenger side carpet.
