Greddy 2 row FMIC install
 

Got the kit yesterday, and finished it today. Overall i thought it was a very easy install.

For BOV placement i read/searched throurally and decided to go with as close to the TB as possible, and i think i accomplished that ;) We used a dremel on all the holes that were needed to cut.

Things i had to move for the piping to fit were: leading coil, pressure sensor, battery is already relocated, power steering was ripped out, and i decided not to keep the bumper reinforcement. The only clearance issue i ran into was with the brake master cylinder, the i/c pipe rubs up against it, but it doesnt leak or anything(im going to keep an eye on it).

Im still going to chop the bumper some(had issues with fuses blowing that hindered further use of power tools). But other than that everything is pretty much done. Ill be making a for sale thread with these items in it: greddy BOV adapter piece for TMIC, stock tmic, stock tmic brace/frame, and whatever elsei deem "not junk".

why did you put it as close to the TB as you could...?

i was looking at that and the fenders and side skirts are mint, but damn is that not the ugliest front bumper iv seen!

When the air is released, id rather it exit moving in the direction of the TB, instead of going BACK THROUGH the intercooler. make sense?

Makes the most sense to me.

Looks clean. You'll get some nasty compression surge if you run your BOV where it is. Acually better for racing and such though.

I have some bad surging as well....I've yet to figure out how to fix it.

Havnt had any compressor surge yet, im still running 8 psi. All these mods are in preperation for a slightly bigger turbo/standalone. All i still need is a wideband and im pretty much good to go.

would the kit have worked if you still had A/C and PS?

He specifically said he removed the ps, so I doubt it...

Yes it will but it's a very tight fit and youll get some vibration from the ps resting against the TB pipe.

The reason why its supposed to be run very close to the throttle body is because, when the throttle is closed quickly, it creates a pressure wave that revurberates back the intake track towards the turbo. Having the BOV as close to the source of the problem is the best way to stop the pressure wave. If you dont run a BOV the pressure wave revurberates back and hits the compressor wheel, After prolonged periods of this, it ruins the turbo. Nice IC by the way.

yes the kit works with stock PS, and AC because I still have both. Also you need to cut out the front of your bumper like this to let more air in or you will overheat on the highway.

spoolin, how much did you pay for the greddy power extrme and where did you find it? i assume you paid around 800 new?

also the greddy fmic kits are expensive like 800-1400 depending on which one and HKSs is like 1800

now cops look and realize that its a turboed car... because they think the BOV sound was just air brakes :) looks really clean

yea i paid 960 @rx7.com 2 yrs ago from what i learned my bro got 1 of 2 left a year ago it was pre ordered i waited for a while call and see if they can get greddy to make some more. worth the try, sounds like none other.

yeah its not loud and obnoxious it has a good tone especially with a good downpipe and a midpipe/straight pipe. and it looks better than any other FC exhaust made.

Wow, that looks great...I really like the quaility of the weld on your flange. There are no places around my local that don't fuck stuff up like that.

I have my BOV on the first pipe off the turbo.

My logic was when my BOV blows off....it is releasing hot air.

However, with your location when it blow's off...it releases cold air...that has already been cooled by the FMIC. So, your FMIC has all the heat in it from that exchange...but your enigne see's none of the benifit. So, you basicly cooled the air....the FMIC absorbed that heat...theny you dumped it out.

I tought the purpose of a blow off/discharge/diverter valve was to release any pressure left in the pipes from the turbo to the throttle body so that it can't find its way back to the compressor and cause surging? Then wouldn't it be better to put the BOV on the pipe coming from the turbocharger to the intercooler?
