Gift ideas

A very good friend of mine owns an 88 FC and is getting married sometime next year. I would like to make him a gift as I am a CNC machinist. I only plan on making one post. What can I make for him that he might use on his car? I have access to most aluminum some steel and small amounts of titanium and inconel.

If I should make a post about this somewhere else let me know.

Posting in the 2nd gen section may also yield more responses. Do you know if the car is a turbocharged model? My suggestion would be a walll plaque in the shape of the car.

I'd go for a digital dash or wideband setup. Most guys into FCs love getting performance parts or tools they’ll actually use in the garage or at the track.

One thing I got my brother, who's big into FCs, was a digital picture frame loaded with photos of his build progress, old track days, and a few vintage Mazda ads. He keeps it on his desk at work and says it gets more comments than anything else in his office. Way cooler than socks or mugs and super personal if you've got a decent photo stash.

I’d check what parts they already have so you don’t end up doubling something, but small personal gifts can hit harder anyway. My FC buddy loved a rotary keychain and a good wax kit. I also tossed a cherry air freshener in his car from https://nothingbutscents.com/collections/cherry since I use their stuff in my own ride and it gives a nice warm vibe without being headache‑strong.

Rotary owners love most anything rotor-shaped. More functionally speaking I concur with those recommending caps or covers inside the engine bay. Rotary owners also love showcasing under the hood!
