Fuel Float doesn't work

I changed pumps and now the fuel gauge doesn't work. I tested it in water with a multimeter and just about every trick I know, i created resistance to the white plug on the gauge side and the gauge works so it isn't the gauge. Do these fuel floats go sour? What should I do?

Yes, they go bad. Go to see someone actually read the fsm and troubleshoot the problem. Three cheers to you.

Mine either. Actually it's kind of a nice safety, at least I won't run out of gas. I probably should replace the float, though, so I can check my MPG properly.

Wonder how many other people have this problem

I think I may have this problem. My fuel needle will hit the bottom of the two red hash marks on the gauge and I am scared to go past that. When I fill the tank I can only cram 13.5 -14 gallons in the tank and I know the tank is about 16.6 or so. I am lucky mine is not as bad as some peolpe but I would like to fix it.

Try running your Fuel to a bare minimum, w/o stalling. Then fill up the tank as much as you can. Doing this ensures your float will display full, most of the time...
