a few guestions about nitros b4 i go and ruin my engine.

ive been considering it so i dont get my ass kicked racing people, i have an auto 13b n/a with 103,000miles and the engine feels great loads of power, i just wana how what i should get in the way of n20, and how i should treat it, like if i should never use it or will it be fine, i realy only want it when im dragging for fun.

i only plained on running 30hp n20 max, maby 20hp boost for passing ;)

there some good threads that used to be up.. i hate it when ppl do this but do a good search.. i wouldn't mind running N20 for a little extra. but i have a feeling i will keep on crankin it up and have no limit's.. well until my engine pops

right now I have a 50 shot on my car. No problems as long as my 6 ports are open. before I had them opened I had problems running lean but since I opened them no problems at all. Nitrous is a lot of fun :D If you buy nitrous I would recommend Nitrous Express. They have to most technology right now.

Congrats on the find! That paint looks good and the body don’t look half bad!!!

I know a thing or two about nitrous.

First and foremost, you need to make sure the car is in sound working order. A full tune-up, fresh fuel filter and spark plugs, make sure the auxilary and vdi (if applicable) are in working order. I would definitely consider temoving the extra throttle plates in the secondary runners, or at the very least, ensuring these are functioning correctly. You should also have your fuel injectors cleaned, flowed, and balanced.
The reason this is so important is that injecting nitrous into closed ports can and will cause nitrous backfire, which at best will scare you, or at worst, blow apart your intake plastics and manifolds.

Have you done any other modifcations to the car yet?

Are you going with a wet or dry kit? Push button or throttle switch? Progressive controller? Also I second the recommendation of nitrous express.

Here in a few months I’m going to be running the nitrous express instaboost kit with a regressive controller to eliminate boost lag from my 76mm turbo, so as my turbo is spoiling up the nitrous will be firing and as the boost from the turbo increases the nitrous will taper off allowing the turbo to do its thing. However I can set the nitrous to be firing all the time if I want and still have it on a push button for on the fly situations.

Holy thread resurrection Batman! This one's from 2003. OP hasn't posted since '09 when it looks like his engine blew. Also looks like the nitrous never happened.

Oh dang, I didn’t even see the date on the og post, I just saw that there was a post on it from a month or 2 ago.

Disregard my last post. Somehow I replied to the wrong thread (Thanks cell phone!)
