FD Intake conversion

I did a search for the FD intake conversion, but can't find it. Does anyone know the website with it on there?

I don't think there was ever a website with a "how-to" and pics, etc.

I think the easiest way to convert to an FD intake is simply swap the upper intake and T.B.

You will notice that the TII lower intake manifold runners come pretty close to matching the FD UIM intake runners - I'm not sure but I think at least several of the bolt holes even match up.

Take your TII intake gasket and place it on the FD UIM to get an idea of where you'll have to port the runners to get them to match up.

OR

Take the FD intake gasket and place it on the TII lower intake manifold to see where you'll have ot port the runners to get them to match.

Make sure you also pick up an FD throttle cable and possibly cruise control cable if you want to keep it functional, as the lengths will be different.

I think soulassasin actually did the conversion using an FD lower and upper intake manifold. If you go this route, you'll need to fabricate an adapter plate to mate teh FD's lower intake manifold up to the TII block [intake ports are different sizes between the two, so they won't naturally match up.]

Good luck, I hope you can make it work!!

for the cost of doing of this on an N/A, it would be totally not worth it. And theres a good chance you would have a negative HP gain. Plus you have change the throttle cable, re-wire the TPS, etc. And if you have power steering, you have to have a custom TB elbow made (like what Kurgan is doing for our Cosmo motors). There is alot of differences because you have to use the FD TB. Time and money better spent elsewhere IMO.

3rd gen upper on 2nd gen:
Its not a easy conversion (I'm doing it now on my series 5 turboII). As far n/a I havent heard of anyone doing it (and not sure why anyone would go through the trouble as I seriously doubt of any HP gains), as far the turbo II conversion you need a 89-91 lower and 93-99 upper. 93-91 lower WIL NOT WORK on turboII block, it would take a hell of a lot of modding. Also the primary ports are WAY OFF on the turbo II lower and should require welding primaries and re-porting ( Found out Savanna Garage Japanese tunners does this), but BLUE TII just port matched his. Going this route of extremly diferent intake systems you SHOULD run after market EMS, if your going to run after market EMS on you n/a and want a good intake system just ask me, I can go on and on about how to gain hp on n/a's...

It should be the same exact process involved in a T2, however I don't know how you will go about the TPS without a EMS, maybe with a custom bracket?
