fd alt int s5 question -- searched... a little :)

ok so i have the oppertunity to pick up an alternator from an fd for $40 --

question one -- should i buy it if im not really comfortable installing it?

question two -- is it really just a straight bolt on? if i do install it this what do i need to know?

question three (for people from colorado) -- anybody done this and want to help a brother out?? ill pay you if it works lol --

i want to put in an aftermarket sound system that really bumps so i think i would really need this upgrade -- i will probobly at least buy it untill i can figure out what to do with it $40 seems like a good deal to me

i found it while looking for a sub -- a guy with a parted out fd was selling one when i heard he parted his fd i asked if he had the alternator still by chance and he said yea, so im lookin to jump on this.

thanks -- i was searching fd alternator into fc or s5 alternator swap or somthing and i wasn't getting any good info -- anyway i think $40 is a good price so i might just buy it and wait to get this done later

electrical is plug in and go.
the fit may need some minor grinding on the alt (preferred) or the front housing. to allow the alt to swing to allow the belt install.

and the FD alt does not have threads for the bolt on the lock bolt so you have to use your own bolt & nut.

Great price if it works.
Other than stated, you will need a different pulley. Silverrotor has them or you can get a old GM alt. front pulley v belt type and it will bolt on no problem. Check with a alt. rebuild shop should have plenty in old stock.
