Expert help please on TPS resistence sweep
I was testing my tps with a voltmeter, for a nice sweep from 1 - 5k olms going from closed to wide open throttle.
During the sweep just where about 2 olms should be I get break in the reading and for a second the reading flashes *1.00.0*, then *0.00* then goes right to like 3 ohms. - so I think maybe the tps is bad right? But, I have 2 voltmeters and it doesn't happed with the other one, but it does happen consistently with the first one. I'm confused.... |
What kind of meter? On my digital, if I don't have the scale set right, or use the auto-scale, I'll get an infinite reading before the meter automatically switches to the next higher scale. When I think to set the meter on the correct scale, everything checks out fine.

This is a case where a cheap needle type (analog) meter is actually more usefull.
The sample & hold interval of digital meters makes it hard to verify a smooth sweep. |
when testing wich prongs do you test?

Do you know anyone that has an o-scope to check the sensor? That would give you the most accurate reading. Can u test your dvom on another tps? Are you having some kind of engine problem? I need to test mine too because my haltech is showing when my tps his 20%, it starts to go down to 5%, then it will climb back up to 100%. I need to buy an s5 version.
