exhaust Diffusers, why?
exhaust Diffusers, why?
why are they there? Are they just there to create backpressure (backpressure=better low end)?
What kind of hp gains would you get from just grinding them out?
Another question: is it in any way possible to remove them without pulling the engine apart?

They reduce noise and possibly help burn hydrocarbons.
You have to remove the housings to remove the diffusers. Any shavings that would get inside the motor would destroy it upon starting.
The gains in just removing them would be minimal, but the subsequent exhaust porting you can do when they're not in your way is significant.

lsnapcasel, bigretardhead also lives here in Boulder.
No, I don't know of any streetporters in CO.
Basically I'm looking to increase power, and I know that 6 port engines can't be ported very much, so I thought about the exhaust ports.
I'm not into drag racing, so I'm not looking for huge power, just maybe 200 flywheel hp.
