engine problems

so I got my vacuum lines fixed but when I finally get her to fire it will idle untill I let my foot off the clutch even in neutral.

The engine was just rebuilt but I had to use housing that weren't in the best of shape so it has low compression and I have to start it by putting oil into the spark plug holes but once it fires up it sounds pretty good.
any idea of what to do?

What is the point of rebuilding the engine if you're going to use beat up housings? It sounds like you made it worse in doing so.

What is it idling at with the clutch in? Normal idle is around 750rpm IIRC, but eight or nine hunred Revs isn't hurting anything.

If it flat out dies when you let the clutch out, and your car isn't an '86, then check your clutch switch. It's the one that won't allow you to start it if the clutch isn't depressed.
