Engine Conversions

Before you start to flame me understand this; I am a rotary freak from the get go. Personally I would not consider an engine swap. However, for those of you who are considering this, you need to be aware of the problems that are ALWAYS encountered in a conversion.

If you are serious about converting, then a company called Jaguars That Run has some very important information for you. Their web address is www.customconversion.com

This company deals with Chevy engine swaps exclusively, but consider the fact that using any other engine that is not commonly used in a conversion will be even more of a problem due to lack of attempts by others. JTR has tens of thousands of hours experience at this on hundreds of swaps.

They have numerous books printed from information they have gathered while actually doing a conversion. You will not believe all the traps and pitfalls out there until you read their info.

The only swap I would consider is the 20B. Unfortunately the cost is prohibitive.

13B's are nice.... but have crap for torgue and once you pump them up their life expectancy is typically short.

V6 Buick yuck..... vibrations... some 450ft/lbs torque+ yes! 13B can't even touch it.

Ya know as much as I love the 7 and the rotory. If you have acces to a V-8 and its way cheaper for you then hey go for it. I am a car guy at heart and even though I hate to see it a V-8 in a 7 just has to scream.
