engine compatibilty?
 

Hi I was wondering if the 87 non turbo engine block would fit in the 90 convertible non turbo engine?
Would it be plug and play. I am about to buy a use one soon. Please I do not know much about the rotary.

Yes. You need to transfer the intake and all electronics from the '90 to the older engine. There will be a few issues (don't expect to pass emissions), but it does work.

Much better to find a matching engine for your car (89-92).

All I really need is the rear cylinder, I think it blew a seal.

if all you blew was the rear oil seal, you can fix that with the engine still in the car (lots of manual labor, but it can be done)...or, are you talking about the rear ROTOR seals?

I dont know which seal, all I know is that it has 0 compression in the rear cylinder and 132psi in the front.

I'm going to assume you're reading the compression gage right (132 sounds kinda high, and 0 means almost every seal on the rotor is wiped out, which usually doesn't happen barring catastrophy), and if that's the case, it's time for a rebuild, with probably a new rotor housing to boot...

That is why I am keep asking every body. It does not making any sense. The way I check the compression (could be wrong) is hooked the gauge up, plug to the spark plug hole and crank for 7 times ++. 132psi is the highest (maybe 130).
I am in the dark on rotary. I hope some nearby can help out. I am locate at Springfield VA. I have a 90 convertible. Maybe I will sell it and get a lesser headache like the supra (got 3, 85s).

First of all, just do an audible compression test- take one plug out at a time, one each housing, and crank her over...listen and feel for the pulses...if you get absolutely nothing out of the rear rotor housing, then you've verified that 0 compression number...(don't forget to pull the EGI fuse before cranking)
