engine

Hey guys. I still didnt buy an rx7, but i will as soon as my svx is sold. The question I have is this - what kind of engine should I get? I'll have bout $5000 canadian to spend on the engine. It will be either a s4 or a s5 turbo II. I want reliability and power. Goal is about 300hp.

Well the S5 engine has more avaliable horsepower stock and lighter rotors for a higher red line. But it all really depends on what year car you buy.

I assume your looking at an NA donor, then swapping a J-Spec engine into it or something. $5000 to spend on the motor alone should get you to the 300hp goal easily. Durability will be a big issue. Good luck finding a whole S5 TII that's worth buying, those things are sought after like shoes in the bargain bin at a wedding store. If you go S4 TII you'll be able to have more funds available for contingency etc. Best of luck, keep us updated, esp. in the Cdn Forum.

Tee hee no, i wasnt going to do a swap. Just buy a tII, and get the engine pulled immediately and rebuilt.
To this day, i've only seen one s5, and never one for sale.
