ECU Power Down

Hey Guys,

What happens to the ECU when you kill power and then power it up. Does it reset anything?

Thanx

The ecu resets, but retains all the codes. If you want to clear the codes, remove the positive terminal and depress the brake pedal for a few seconds.

Thanx, that helps.

Uh, your profile shows this to be an 87. If it is, you do not have to worry about the ECU retaining codes - this ECU (86-88) loses its error codes as soon as the error disappears. It couldn't retain a code to save its life! :D So don't worry about the brake pedal - you can't erase what isn't there! ;)

Irv, Keith's dad

I've never had to touch my brake pedal. and I've cleared codes a few times while traking down a problem with my O2. just removed the neg termanal for 30 secs or so and the code was gone.
