i love doing the downhill style of drifting, the stock fc has great weight transition for it. a stiff suspension is a great idea, but too much power can end up being a really bad mistake. either way it is SUPER FUN!!!!!

beginners going Sideways in an FC = hard

Its like going sideways in an SW20. Practice is the main key. Get used to how it breaks loose cause when its loose , its loose. Other than that , when you get used to how it runs , you can do the tweaking.

Dont start off going Stiff if you dont have much experiece in drifting. Makes it harder imo. Get used to what u got , unless its breaking apart.

dude if your tired of getaing your butt handed to you all the time then instead of looking for a easy way out( and trust me drifting is not the easy way) how about you save up your bones and build your fc up, cause its gonna be cheaper in the end, if you wanna start drifting its alot of money.

2 way lsd is about 2grand, good suspenion 600-1000, don't even get into tires dude especially when you start practicing your going to be going through alot of tires, drifting is gonna take time to learn. If you want to beat your friends, just fix up your fc or something dude.

Drag racing technique is at least as developed as drifting. I agree it gets boring,and is more about power and setup than talent, however it is really ignorant to say it is not skillful. That is akin to saying NASCAR drivers do not need skill, only money.


Sorry to go off topic. I plan on learning to drift in an FC as well, and there is a lot of good information here.

Watch out for understeer and curbs.. Lol :( happend to me this weekend.. messed up my Body kit pretty bad.. ( i am expecting to get flamed for this but what ever. )

Im also learning how to drift and i can just say this the reason i wont get a 240 is because one everyone has one and two i cant stand easy stuff the reason i have a fc is because i love fast cars every car i had was fast or had potential and i only had three and i would drift all of them if i could but i would rather have the fc because everyone says its hard to do just get a 240 they say but i love a challenge and i want to master and drifting a fc so my advice to you is be different and if you have a desire to drift in your fc go for it yes you need to take care of it and keep it in good and perfect shape but IMP the fc is just as good as the 240 and has just as much power as well so go for it you will love it

240 suck foreal i dont want one and i wouldnt get one i would rather keep my fc and get an ae86 instead

an ae86 is even harder to drift than a fc, but once you learn to drift in a hachi you are a freakin monster thats all i got to say, miatas, s2000, fc's, and hachis are some freakin hard ass cars to drift but once you master them you will be unstoppable.

but all the 2 ways i seen was 2 grand i guess they went down, i would just get my diff welded if i was practicing, just stay away from the rain. welded diff and rain equals destruction.

i cant drift my n/a well on dry roads...lack of power and ebrake but when its wet out its all good

so what do i do about my ebrake? the pads are new but i cant even get close to locking the wheels up. i can leave the damn thing on and wont notice a difference untill i smell the brakes.

Pull up really hard and really fast. Make sure its tightened too, mine is the same way.

but dude if you do start drifting, stay away from curbs can't stress that enough that a ruin your night right there cause if you hit a curb hard enough say good by, to suspension on whatever side you hit it on, i mean you will tear up everything, happend to my friend and it sucked more than paris hilton.

remember, curbs are the enemy, stay away from polls and walls, a nice open parking lot or track and you are a ok.

How about stay away from drifting in the streets period? Yeah i think thats even better advise. 1 day drifting at the track is equal to 10 times out on the streets or even more. I really hate people who drift on the streets it really gives drifting a bad rep. Here in Norcal our only drift friendly track almost dropped drifting because of some stupid idiots drifting near the track.



I have been drifting since 02 for fun at the track and i will say starting on a harder car will not make you better. Starting on a easier car will help you because 1) since its easier you will learn faster, get the feel and basics down faster, and will progress faster. Start linking turns start having a faster entry speed and etc.. 2) Since its easier you polish your techniques faster too.

Im not saying the FC is a bad car to start out with. All im saying is there are cars out there easier to drift and more user friendly. Once you get the basics down you should be able to drift any car it would just be a matter of getting used to it.

well yea if he has a track near him, then of course track anyday but if he lives where i live and the nearest track is either in tennesse or atlanta. But since drifting is still kinda small and since we are not like japan and have a drift park, then a empty parking lot is for me dude.

but if you have a track close to you then go man, if not be safe, find a parking lot in a secluded area and learn thats what i am doing.

I totaly agree but thats just me i wont do it because it wont be a challenge to me but how ever i was joking about the 240 i love nissan my favorite car besides the fc is a skyline and i wouldnt mind having a 240 i just like being challanged and it will cause me to persue perfection in the fc thats all i like to 240 but because everyone has one in my area it makes me not want to get one but i totaly agree with you and building my fc to drift and road race is a learning expirence for me im really trying to learn how to rebuild my engine so that i can have some skill in doing it myself as oppose to having someone else do it

I feel ya smokie, i mean i also plan on getting a beater 240 to learn to drift in, and i will never put a sr20 in that car, i really don't see the point in doing the, the money you used to ship that motor over from japan you could have used it to fix up the motor and make it a ka-t

WANGANRUNNER7 yea thats what i dont understand its like why not fix up your motor i mean you can find a used one for cheap but you still have to spend money to fix it up just like i dont understand why people put a ls1 in a fc when you can just put a 3 rotor in it and its just as fast

Why bother with a 3 rotor when a properly TUNED TII will generate gobs of power like the LS1 with a 4th of the money to do the LS1 or 20B swap.

The old addage of no replacement for Displacement is far gone. God created turbo lag to give V8's a fighting chance. Remember that quote. Build a TII, tune it right and have at it.

Do what you want, drift the FC or drift a Hachi or drift a 240 or an FD or a Mustang or a GTO or whatever. Do not let anyone influence what you WANT to do. Im a firm believer in setting yourself apart from the rest. It is true that more and more people are goin the 240/hachi route and thus you will separate yourself from that mainstream with the FC.

oh and smokie, let me tell ya the ka's are way stronger than the sr's to, when i went to nopi it was a dude drifting their he only had pistons and rods and running 15lbs of boost. it was around 98 degrees that weekend, and they were running hard, to sr's blew up before that ka did.

i would rather just keep the engine i have and build it up, i see no need to swap fo real, cause the money you used to by the engine then put it in their, i could have used that to just rebuild the one i have. Oh and now they are putting n/a sr20's in the 240s and turboing them thats just stupid.
