Drift Crash Aftermath

umm...my car went into a ditch...its low...not much was damaged the framerail seemed to be the only thing damaged. Then I notice when one wheel was straight the other was bent inward some...you can hardly turn a corner with it...and I started it today...when I reved it, it only got up to 2,000rpm as like a maximum...I would floor it...it would hit 2,000 go back down, hit 2,000 go back down...is my car just scrap now?

mort2002 08-15-06 01:40 PM

post some pics of the damage!!

OneRotor 08-15-06 01:41 PM

*shakes head*

RotaryEvolution 08-15-06 01:41 PM

pop the hood and look around.

like i always say... we can only help as much as you help us help you. the info given was VERY vague since you didn't even post year or model.

F1blueRx7 08-15-06 01:48 PM

Well you probably b0rked your control arms/suspension. Lift the car up and take the wheels off and inspect the damage. If you don't understand your suspension, or why the wheel won't turn, you DEFINATELY should not be drifting. Actually, you shouldn't be drifting on public roads either.

Not trying to troll... but there was a post on here not long ago about someone trying to drift and hitting a girl on the sidewalk.

Carzy Driver 08-15-06 01:50 PM

Need more info... if you sell let me know....

Actually they did not say they were trying to drift. They did say they lost control in a turn and hit someone on the sidewalk though.

Please people.. keep it on the fucking track... or at least an empty parking lot in a remote location.

Oh yeah, and pics would really help this thread.

AaronConklin 08-15-06 02:04 PM

eh, ok I went to start it again...it ran fine, don't know what was up with that...anyway its a 1987 RX-7 N/A when it crashed, well..look

Crash Video

the front tires hit the curb...hard...the were at an angle at the time too I guess one hit the curb really hard and something got bent...the other is fine. Both wheels still turn when I turn the steering wheel...its just the left wheel is a bit off from the right wheel.

Juiceh 08-15-06 02:08 PM

^LOL

Came a little close to hitting that telephone pole man. You might have had worse issues to deal with then.

AaronConklin 08-15-06 02:10 PM

yes I was thinking how much worse it could have been the whole time...we could have flipped...wrapped...blown up...(lolz) yep...definatley keep it on the track bishes...Im uploading a picture of the suspension area behind the wheel

RotaryEvolution 08-15-06 02:11 PM

you probably have a bent tie rod or both are bent. the aluminum control arms are difficult to bend as they tend to just break rather than bend so i doubt there is any damage to them but the strut tower or strut itself may have been damaged or bent.

as for the engine, well, pull codes as it may just be in limp mode from the OMP or AFM connectors jarred loose or pulled out.

and yes, keep it on the damn track. enthusiasts are already paying for mistakes others have made in this state.

F1blueRx7 08-15-06 02:13 PM

:pat:
WOW. That was dumb. You even put your hazards on to let the other drivers know how dumb you are.
Congrats.

Good luck getting your car fixed.

nukeall 08-15-06 02:15 PM

damm man dirfit it how the fuck did you mess up it looked soo nice (the drift) did you get scared ??? mistaks can cost you when you drift .....

Whizbang 08-15-06 02:15 PM

that isnt that bad. check the gas tank area for problems with the fuel line and perhaps pump then check the entire suspension out. you got lucky, just dont be lazy and give the car a look over.

RotaryEvolution 08-15-06 02:16 PM

by the way, you probably would have been fine had you not tapped the brakes. even just pushing in the clutch would have likely helped you avoid the curb.

AaronConklin 08-15-06 02:22 PM

yeah...people make mistakes...and stupid decisions...X_X

at least I learned from it

KhanArtisT 08-15-06 02:37 PM

Hey I thought those vids were prrrdy kewl! :D I wish I had roads like that in my area :(

AaronConklin 08-15-06 02:41 PM

don't crash! heh........................*sigh*

MrFC3S 08-15-06 03:05 PM

heh... lol you had it going good, till the end :)
but yeah, keep it on a track or deserted parkinglot... you tend to not go over too many cliffs that way lol sorry...

but wtf could possiably cause the car not to run, thats like my airbag is deployed and the car wont start...
have you check the damage on the underside? possible crimped fuel line? exaust?

13b4me 08-15-06 03:14 PM

Shouldn't have hit the brakes... That's the worst thing you can do when you're sideways... :icon_no2:

importsown 08-15-06 04:42 PM

Yea i agree here, if u just put in the clutch, let off the gas and just held the wheel the direction it was, u woulda kept sliding straight sideways and probably woulda been all good, cuz i dont think u woulda went of the edge sideways.

At least your OK, its all in the risks u take doing this kind of stuff, and its nice to see ur doing it in a remote location, cuz i sure as hell didnt even see a building never mind a car lol. Id be quite the hyprocrite if i told u not do drift in-town lol. Oh well i only got an N/A i cant drift very fast anyways.

furiousbob 08-15-06 05:40 PM

mistakes. accidents. crashes. put me in a really bad position. I've learned from them but the price i had to pay (and am still paying) is pretty much destroying me. take care =D

and others can learn from your mistake, care to elaborate or is it personal?

J-Rat 08-15-06 06:11 PM

Ouch.. Little bit of panic there, eh?

furiousbob 08-15-06 07:35 PM

i've explained in two previous posts (one i posted the day i got out of jail and as a result, i started getting threats) so i sorta stopped trying to explain. i wasn't driving like an idiot, i wasn't trying to drift and i wasn't trying to show off or anything stupid. I simply went too fast and lost control, aka lack of driver skill.

Smokems 08-15-06 07:41 PM

WTF WAS THAT .... I cant stop laughing..... nice attempt u almost had it =P. U know what they say practice practice practice makes perfect. LOL omg funniest thing since dave chappelle.

Omixeo 08-15-06 07:45 PM

More Gas!

yeah... that means you drove like an idiot.

monkhommey 08-15-06 07:48 PM

check your fuel injector wires.. could of jared somethin loose.. ol nice drift.. well until half way thru...

robtechfabrications 08-15-06 07:53 PM

everyone summed it up...no brakes!! more gas...looks like bein sideways made you nervous and the natural reaction when nervous is to hit the brakes...if you're gonna drift you gotta commit...like snowboarding...if you check ur speed (basically brake) right before you hit a jump or whatever you're probably gonna eat shit.

Secondmessiah 08-15-06 10:26 PM

sounds like your suspension is fucked

and for all you people telling him to keep it off the public roads, from the video it appears as though he found an abandoned place to practice, so he wasnt placing anyone else in danger

All good and true, but still, most tracks and empty parking lots don't have the hazards you can have on backroads. For example, curbs and ditches, some parking lots don't even have poles you can possibly slam into.

Keeping it on a track\empty lot not only keeps people safer but it also keeps your car safer.

Thanks Juiceh, i'm not sure if u know who you're talking about but meh okay.

Juiceh 08-15-06 10:49 PM

I wasn't talking about you Bob. I was talking about SayNoToPistons. :D

*edit*
BTW bob, what happened with your situation? I read your thread when it happened. Things turnin out any better?

rotarydriver108 08-15-06 10:50 PM

dam man sux

drifting actually saved my life lol no lie

ProjectR13B 08-15-06 10:58 PM

in the braking defense, i used to tap the brake real quick if i got sideways (in the rain at least) to bring my back end back around, but panic braking can kill a nice drift. that was pretty smooth to dude until the spin. good luck with your car. after a i hit a curb and busted 3 of my rims i knew that curbs should be no where near a drifting vehicle. gald your safe.

furiousbob 08-15-06 11:05 PM

yeah see i figured. but um no word from anybody yet. it's been two months since it happened and about...5 weeks since my supposed arraignment (which never happened).

I back that up completely as I have also broken a rim like that... I usually drift in old abandoned parking lots (with the K-Marts going out of business around here) we have more and more available it seems...

VacavilleFC 09-13-06 06:50 AM

WHOO hoo lake herman road. thats a nice spot. you should come through vacaville sometime highway 128 is a blast

jgrts20 09-13-06 07:56 AM

doesnt look that bad, you miss the pole by couple feet lucky. What are you running for an exhaust? sounds good.

Our K-mart has been torn down and turned into a nice new shopping center. It also wasn't exactly in an abandoned place - it was on the corner of the largest highway interchange in town. My choice place to play around with drifting is the parking lot for a baseball field complex close to my parents house. Its large and has no light posts in the way, plus they just re-paved it recently.
As for the drifting, the way my car is setup, I just let off the gas and the rear snaps back in place, even in the rain. Its gotten way more sideways than that and had no problems.

digitalsolo 09-13-06 09:46 AM

Drifter wrecked their car... what a shame... :balls:

The problem with 2000RPM.

I had this very problem where the car will not go past 2000RPM. Once you hit it, the engine will go back to idle. It's like the engine is hitting a brick wall. After playing with it I noticed the problem too less time to resolve it's self after I pulled the throttle cable. Then one day I noticed the throttle cable turns a semi circled piece of metal. This lets a plastic cylinder out of it's shaft. This is the TPS (Throttle Positioning Sensor). In my case the cylinder wasn't coming all the way out of the shaft. I pushed it a little and then the car would rev to redline. So I got some graphite power and lubricated it, (WD40 only lasted about a day) and don't have the problem anymore! w00t!! Attached is a picture showing what I am talking about.

yeah, that'd be the smart thing to do when doing illegal driving on public roads, let the people who already rape you for premiums KNOW that you are doing illegal driving on public roads.

HAHA actually he did. Me, Jackie in his FD, AaronConklin and his friend both in red FCs all meet up in Vacaville Friday night.
Didn't know it was you AaronConklin who fell into a ditch when I met you. You were throwing some nice flames outside the bowling alley though.
