double-checking bolt size for oil cooler + lines

so i need 21 and 23mm sockets and a 25mm flare wrench to get everything off, right? (though mounting bolts are the standard like everything else)

i only ask cause my socket set (even my deep sockets) only goes to 19, so i'm going to get these individually, and i don't want to buy another part if i don't need it

also, is there an easier way to disconnect the lines from the engine than i'm thinking? i've gotten the main bolt loosened, but i don't know what's going to be able to grab it (unless a flare wrench will be able to) and still twist off the other bolt, as it's been getting a little annoying :)

also, i'll be heading to harbor freight for their sidewalk sale tomorrow to pick me up an engine hoist since it's on sale! woot! :) it'll go great with my harbor freight engine stand :D (now just need the rotary engine adapter, lol)

i used a 23 mm wrench and it came off like a charm ?

throw the round side on it and nail the wrench with a hammer :) took me 5 minutes

The banjo bolts are 23MM.

The front cover connection is a size I always forget. Perhaps 21MM? I always just use a thin adjustable since most open ended wrenches seem to be a bit thick. Generally it takes a few hammer whacks to get it loose.

thanks guys...so just hit the wrench w/a hammer on the front housing? i got it loose (thanks pb and vice grips :D), but it looks like im going to break the line, as the entire line is twisting when i twist the bolt

ok, now where am i supposed to get a 23mm socket??? i went to sears, lowe's, home depot, and advanced auto parts, and NO one had it.

hurleysurf24 03-08-08 05:28 PM

sears should definately have it.

i'll have to go back and ask tomorrow, but they didn't have any today. it was actually really strange, cause on the shelf it went 19, 20, 21, 22, 24...i was just like..c'mon

why dont you just use my method ?

nevertheless they should have a socket in a kit if you need to use it. my suggestion is to buy the kit, use the socket, then when you're done return the kit

oh, sorry, yes, i could do that, but i didn't want to spend $20 on a wrench if i could get a $5 socket :)

A 15/16ths 6 point socket will work.
