Amazingly the shift light still works in my race car. In other cars I have seen it is just the bulb that has blown out in the gauge cluster. If I remember right I replaced the bulb when I installed some white face gauges in a '87 T2 I had a long time ago.

Why would you want it to work!!!???

It's suppose to tell you when to shift for best FUEL economy. BLAH.

Mine works =(

Some year I'll take the time to disable it. I've learned to ignore it and don't even notice it except at night.

It works fine on my 88. It is just a arrow that lights up at 3k RPMs saying you should shift if you want to save your fuel.

I've promptly removed the Shift Up light bulb out of all my cars and most of the cars I've worked on. Quite useless.

I thought I saw a writeup on how to adjust it. Maybe last year? (glad they dropped it on the S5's)

thats weird.. why do your shift light buzzers go on soo early? Mine doens't light up and buzz until i hit red line.. Maybe it's just broken... but it still buzzes at me

KenshinFC,
that's a redline buzzer. the light they are talking about comes on alot of manual transmission cars. it signals a recommended shift point. the buzzer tells you to stop so you don't blow up your engine :P
