What about one from a newer MX6? My GF has one and I think the wheel looks pretty good. Especially compared to the stock one in my car.

Since the GEs (MX-6/626) were built here in the states, I just don't know.

The wheel may fit but will not have a slipring for the horn contact.

What if you guys used a different ecu.

Would you then be able to use an SRS airbag with it

This thread was last updated over a decade ago.

No, you wouldn't be able to use a different ecu. Using a different ecu is not as simple as just plugging it in.

A different ecu would not plug into the harness, then on the steering wheel side the plugs for the airbag are different, then you also have different sensors, etc. It's a whole system.

Trying to adapt any component from another car and keep the airbags funcional is a very poor decision imo. Don't mess with safety devices, especially those that rely on explosives in the steering wheel.

My Miata steering wheel works fine with my PFC. Thankfully I've never tried out the airbag, but there are no idiot lights or anything.
