I've tried and it is not possible with an open diff. (I'm talking about doing the 360 from a "dead stop.") I couldn't do it with a 240 or with an FB RX7 GS.

if you dump the clutch turn the wheel to the left and keep it there, you'll do donuts... i have video of me doing it in a parking lot....

they just take a lot longer to engage

The only way you could damage one or burn it out is if you ran the differentail itself dry and overheated the whole assembly to the point of seizing.

I though that you could overwhelm a viscous lsd with huge amounts of power? I seem to remember them frying a viscous lsd on project 350Z in SCC.
And for the record, the prev. owner of my car put on an LSD. He took the whole rear driveline from a T-II and swapped it on.

Thats BS. It is possible. My friend has an 86 base model and he does donuts from a dead stop all of the time. Anyways, just jack the rear end of the car up. Start the car and put it in first. Take it up to around 15mph and have someone try and stop one of the tires from spinning. If it stops then you dont have one, and if you can not stop it then you do. Thats a surefire way of testing.

i read the fact thing and it said that a s4 gtu had a lsd. And it did mad burnouts and dounuts.

darksider 08-22-05 06:35 PM

i think you guys are forgeting i have an s5 90 gxl. not a s4. i think s4 had lsd so thats why they do donuts so easily. ive also heard from word of mouth that al 2nd gen rx7s came with lsd. you could call racing beat and ask if you dont believe me but to be honest i really need someone to double check that.

to TIIsleeper thanks for the reply, ill try holding the wheel later when i go change the brakes. thanks

if your RX7 has a beat up ass diff with a million miles on it, then yes i can see why your having problems. but if thats the case you probibly shouldnt be swinging it.
