i had a 240sx before, i was looking into the digital logicon, but i found out it was more than what meets the eye, because that the logicon is wired up to the ECU meaning i needed the japanese ECU to work with the logicon and the logicon had extra things that never can with the US-Spec 240sx and had to have it in order to fit and the wiring was , so i dropped the digital logicon ****.

With the FINE QUALITY of the Mazda interior electronics (IE: Clock... Radio... ECU... Wiper Switch) why would you want ANOTHER electric device in our cars??? I'll stick with my normal logicon.

Microcontroller based

What about building one from scratch using a modern microconntroller? www.parallax.com sells them, they're called BASIC stamps, and they sell sensors and hardware for a variety of projects. I've been thinking of using them in building a completely new electrical system for my car (like the C5's electrical system).

Sorry to drag up an old thread...

But i've imported myself a Ser.5 Infiniti from japan, and also purchased a digital climate control from a gt-limited, but it has no loom (i dont believe, have to wait for it to arrive).

Just wanted to know if anybody has any idea on how to wire it up, or knows of any guides around on how to do it.

I'd say your first step would be finding service manual/schematic for this rare Japanese system.
I'm assuming you already have the digital unit (or more likely, five).

Here's a bunch of JDM FSM's I got from a YJA seller a few years ago. I've got a digi-logicon box also but no sensors or loom. :/

If anyone can create replacement sensors, let us know.

i just did this swap on my Rx8, for the FC though

the FC sun sensor is FB02-61-751, the Rx8 part might work.

however it looks like the deal breaker is the Water temp sensor in the heater box, all the Rx8's get a water temp signal from the engine, but the FC doesn't…

i put the auto climate control from the EU/UK/JDM rx8 into my US spec Rx8, so i just found out what pieces you need

then i looked up the equivalent Rx7 parts, and the FC system would be hard because there is a water temp sensor.

irregardless i find no reason i would ever attempt to put in a logicon from an 80's japanese car into a USDM one.

a) it probably won't function properly

and

b) it's probably broken

unless you want to attempt to rebuild it first... it might make a good conversation piece though.

(yes, A and B are the same)

Arrived last month from Japan. Will attempt to wire it in. If it fails to work properly, then a conversation piece it will be.

This is one of the reasons why cars are not always identical. We each have different things we want or don't want to do to them.

Google Translate may help:

Keep us posted. It's certainly a unique piece that very few have over here.

I have a digital logicon in my US s4 vert. But mine is a converted RHD conversion. Definitely a very cool feature.

Do you have all of the proper sensors with your conversion?

We need 4 sensors to make the auto climate control unit work:
  • light sensor - placed on dash where the us spec vin plate is rivted (sensor is supplied 5v by logicon)
  • coolant temp sensor - placed on a line in the blend door box
  • outside air temp sensor - placed near the relays in the bumper
  • inside air temp sensor - placed in a a tube of some sort behind/next to the logicon. Has a motor in same piece, probably a fan to blow air across sensor

A toyota air temp sensor specs out to be very similar to what is needed for the inside and outside air temp sensors. I plan on making a trip to the parts store to test all kinds of sensors to see if they are in the proper range for the what the logicon requires to operate.

I translated 95% of logicon section on page 34 of the wiring manual to English: Wiring-Diagram-89-3-S5-PAGE-034.pdf (5.3MB)

If anyone can take pics of sensor placements, I would be grateful. How about you, gregs22??

So once I have some more things completed on my build I would like to go back and take a look at doing something more modern to control the power accessories such as what the logicon does. I have been messing with raspberry pi stuff and its doable.

I figured I would use my tablet gauge cluster to control it. Would be a neat concept.

Below are sections from the Japanese air-con manual. Would anyone else happen to know of some 90s error cars with auto climate controls? I have no idea what other cars had them, but would like to look through manuals for these cars to see if their sensors might interchange or have a similar scale. Early 90s Mazda 929s had auto climate controls, but the sensor scales are not even close.

RX-7 Cabin Air Temp Sensor

RX-7 Heater Core/Coolant Temp Sensor

RX-7 Solar Radiation Sensor

RX-7 Ambient Air Temp Sensor

RX-8 Ambient Air Temp Sensor

RX-8 Evaporator Temp Sensor - similar scale to RX-7 cabin temp sensor
