digital clock doesnt work...
So everyone knows what the blue digital clock is in our FC's, it is actually quite an annoyance when it doesn't work. because then you have to dig in your pocket and dig out your phone and look at the time. this is America, were lazy, nobody wants to do that. so for some odd reason my clock only works when its hotter than the devils *** outside. would anybody know why? Thanks in advance.
Most likely it has bad solder joints. Thats the most common cause of clock problems in our cars. If you are handy with a soldering iron you can just resolder it. There is a writeup on how to do it ...search for clock or warning light resolder.
I haven't a picture, but it's pretty easy to find.
Remove the warning cluster.
Undo the small flathead screw that holds the **** on the clock adjusting rod.
Turn over, on the back you'll see three phillips head screws...remove.
Now pull the assembly apart, separating the circuitboards from the housing.
There are two levels of circuit board, the top level holds the clock module itself...we need to go to the bottom level.
The two levels are connected by flexible flat cable and you can see that only one such cable connects to the clock module. It's the four solder joints that feed this cable that you want to redo.
Sorry I can't describe this more clearly (my camera is MIA lately) but you shouldn't have any problem finding the joints...it's pretty self-explanatory once you have it in hand.
