diff problems

After doing a burn out as I was coming out of a U-turn in my series 4 rx7 something broke in my diff. I thought I had a flat tyre at first because it felt as if the car had lost some stability, but as I continued to drive there was a loud bang then as I slowed down and put the car in neutral there was a grinding noise. There was no grinding noise while accelerating or slowing down while in gear.
Could this be the LSD, or does it sound like there's something wrong with some other part of the diff?
