Diff housing differences

i was wondering what the differences in the housings of a 87 base modle diff vs a 88 turbo diff

the reason is that i could buy a t2 diff with a busted housing, see the pic, and want to replace the busted part with the good housing i have off my 87 base

can i just swap these parts? or are there differences that wont let them mate?
