did you replace your motor mounts
when you rebuilt your engine, replace the motor mounts as well? i probably would but i was just curious to see if you absolutely had to
Only if they are bad.
Yeah I would, on all of the motors I've pulled they have just split in half because of the years of oil eating away at them. Its easier than when the motor is in because you have to support the engine to change them.
Yeah, like they said, mine were trashed. One was completely split in half.
I went with Scalliwag's machined solid mounts on the engine and tranny. They are just fine for daily driving, don't listen to all the nay-sayers that think they are too hard. |
how do you guys feel about polyurethane vs. solid mounts???
I've got the Mazda competition mounts, like stock, but stiffer. They're good and stiff, but don't trasmit vibrations very much at all, which is what more solid types will do.

I should have but I didn't.. solids here I come!!
Polys arent that bad at all. I have Banzai poly engine and tranny mounts and it is relatively smooth, especially compared to the ripped stock mount!
On the parts car I had, both mounts were busted in half... the engine would rock back and forth.. real scary.
So yes.. I would say if they are the original motor mounts and you have over 100k miles.. yes.. its time to replacement regardless. Mazda comp mounts FTW... On mazdatrix.com they are actually a couple bucks less than OEM ones. |
there's always a hockey puck aswell.. if you're cheap and bored
solid ones on e bay,......they are great, a little vibration but who cares......girls like it
Nevermind I figured it out.
You have to order two.
Yes.
I did the Banzai setup. |
Polyuethane mounts!
I replaced with stock rubber mounts...
Should have gone with the competition mounts :) I'm going to buy those for my turbovert once the engine goes back in! |
placing order today w/ mazdatrix for Comp mounts. :)

I went with the competition mounts from Mazdatrix, their cheap and he old ones were shot.
Oh how I wish we could find Delrin mounts/ bushing kits for our 7's. That would be a great Christmas. :)
solids here, I think they were like 50 bucks.
I have polyurethane motor and transmission mounts. Took a while to get used to the vibration, but now i love it!
:mspank: |
The mounts were shot in my buddy's car, we are putting solids mounts in.
