First of all, thank you Kevin for creating this outstanding resource for the community. I will definitely be referring to this when I begin my first rebuild!:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Nice write up. :)
You might implement some scripting to block copy/paste stuff if you would really rather it not be distributed everywhere.

could put it up as flash or raster images. Then people would have to do a TON of screen grabs to get all the info...
And you can lock images. Although, one could also just screen grab those.

No, no, no, no, no, no, NO. First of all, as micaheli and others have pointed out, it's pointless. Someone will be able to copy it (I guarantee I will) and on the Internet, all it takes is one. More importantly, as most of us probably don't have computers down in the garage, you don't want to do anything that's going to make this a pain in the ass to print! I for one am going to have this in a binder on my workbench. (FLASH!? Hell no.) What I would strongly suggest is that Kevin slap '©Rotary Resurrection' on every single one of the images, so there isn't any doubt about where this came from, and he can more easily assert his rights to send a takedown notice if copies appear. He might also check the referrer on this page in his web logs from time to time, to make sure that it doesn't have hits from anywhere but rx7club.com. Lastly, I have a technical question: Kevin, you mention sending housings to JHB for cermet coating. I have an S4 vert, and my wife will probably have her own S4 vert next year. I was planning to get a 3rd engine, so that I always have one rebuilt and ready to drop in. If I have the budget, is there any reason not to have everything cermet coated—even if the housings/irons were otherwise in great shape? Thanks again for the awesome writeup! |
Very nicely done sir! <---that's understated

I've had this writeup done for a few months but I debated on whether or not to put it up publicly. There are a lot of real young, naive FC owners popping up daily and many of them dont have any mechanical experience. I thought that maybe I might do more harm than good by putting this info out there and giving false hopes to those who have no business working on a car like this.
Hopefully this thread wont turn into a circus full of bullshit, so please think before you post. Also I do not expect to see this writeup being copied and put onto other websites, pasted onto other forums, etc. I am posting this here for the benefit of users on this forum but if you try to take advantage of this I will pull the writeup and have the thread deleted. That said, it's unlikely that anyone will ever post the content to another forum as it would take HOURS to copy the text, translate it to UBB code and then repost. It's easy to check if someone has grabbed the whole page and posted it to their site as you can just Google a few key phrases from the text that are not likely to be repeated anywhere else. There's probably a couple hundred pictures, so expect long loading times even on broadband. Dial up users might think twice before trying to view this.

Hehe. |
I love how this is the only picture thread without 15 pictures of the guy doing the work trying to be funny with a turbo, air-want, or humping something. Or a picture of them greasy and somewhat gay.
But holy shit thats a good thread. |

beautiful write up kevin and just in time for my first rebuild this is going to be a godly reference
|
goes to show we still have some of the good ones left....
|
Excellent writeup. Far more hands-on than the videos I have seen. Real-world issues dealt with, tons of useful factual info. You should consider making a video including all of your thoughts and opinions. This thread belongs in the Archives.

i have rebuild my fair share of piston engines, but never a rotary!! this is a must have went it comes time to rebuild the rex. thanks alot for taking the time to do such a good job

So this is it? I post up what is arguably the most valuable information that an rx7 owner could know, and it nets 2 days of posts, no sticky, no archive, that's it? I have 50 gigs of data transfer left this month and the worst you guys could do is 14.5 gigs? :ugh2:

Awesome post, i wish i had this when i did my rebuild. I addresses all the little issues that i had trouble with because i had never messed around on cars before. You should have this printed and bound so people can have it handy as they are doing their rebuild. Saves a lot of time running inside to check something out.
Thank you |
