Looks cool, have you tested how stable the player is in that spot? Ie. hard braking\cornering etc. How about clearance when shifting, ever bump into it?

Sits a little high doesn't it??? I would break that bugger right off when I shift mad quick yo,

the nanos have a 1/8" output on the bottom?

and none on the top :)

That thing would go flying with me driving!

I've been looking at creating something similar for my nano. After a bit of playing around I discounted that location because my arm hit it while shifting. Is that a problem with your setup?

I have a few more ideas, and I'll post them once I've finished the install.

There are no issues with the actual shifter hitting it. There is about 1-2 inches clearence with the shifter in 2-4-R. As for your arm hitting it... unless you hold the shifter really low or something you should be fine. Or if you have a short shifter that is stubby then you would hit it.

And the stability is fine. Because the nano is so light the aux cable and the dock are plenty to keep it in place.

It's my arm hitting it, not the shifter.

I do have a short shifter, so that may be part of it.

you know what would look even better. If you had bought one of my Carbon Fiber panels and mounted it on this.

I think I would have that damaged within about 30 seconds of driving. :) Not so much worried about damaging the mount but in an emergency manouver I could see snapping the internal connector off in the iPod.

Could you mount it sideways where the ash tray currently is? I don't know much about audio stuff, it just looks like it could fit.

If you do manage to hit it hard enough to break something, the mount would break before the iPod. Because its just glued in my setup I think that, but if it was molded fiberglass or something maybe the ipod would break.

If your shifter is just as tall as the stock one you should be fine. it's only if the shifter is stubby that you would hit it.

The phono jacks in anything are notoriously weak where they connect to the board. It's likely that the solder joints would break especially if they are surface mount. Just a warning...

I have my video ipod hooked up through the Alpine Ipod interface into my Alpine 9855 head unit (OEL screen w/ Glidetouch) I ran the cabel through a hole i drilled in the center consol and hide it in there. works perfectly

That's pretty much exactly what I did.

Rx7TII88 is using just a regular aux cable that plugs into the phono jack. The KCA-420i that we are using plugs into the multi-pin connector and charges the iPod too! The sound is perfect, and it is always charged. Great combo!

Yeah I have thought of that. but dont you have to push the buttons to release it?
