Custom delete Wiring

Ok so as the title says I'm making a "custom" wiring as in deleting all junk wires I don't need such as all the ac wires I know at least a couple of people have done this could any of you guys shine some light on what harnesses/plugs I need to chop off if u could give the harness code that could help also such as (F-51)- rec. fresh select motor ??? What ever that is lol

87nitefc 10-16-14 01:18 PM

Before anyone ask it's a 87 fc TII

Hit the FAQ, you will find a link to wiring diagrams for the entire car.

clokker 10-16-14 01:22 PM

"rec. fresh select motor" sounds like part of the HVAC system, specifically, the motor that toggles between fresh and recycled air.

Not knowing this points up a problem...you need a fairly good grasp of the harness before you can "weed out the crap" without problems. It's not hard if you approach it in sections but ultimately you'll need a good overview at least.

87nitefc 10-16-14 02:38 PM

Yeah I get u that's why if anyone could let me know what they cut I already have a fair understanding of the diagram I'm jus kinda lazy on searching wat every single harness is I already rewired my emission harness and well the front/engine harness is next to be fixed

barkz 10-16-14 04:05 PM

are you talking about a "tucked harness"? if so do a search for that

87nitefc 10-16-14 04:53 PM

Not tucked more as jus unnessary wire removal I'm leaving only the wires that the 7 needs to function all other wires are getting removed

Then you need to define "function".

clokker 10-17-14 08:09 AM

It's also worth noting that some of the wiring usually considered to be "junk/crap" can be easily repurposed to become "useful/integrated".
The AAS system for example, can be quite handy.

Point being, just because you have no current use for some circuits (to be determined after you define "functional") doesn't mean you might not in the future.

87nitefc 10-17-14 10:49 AM

To function such as all luxury that the car comes with originally such as radio cigarette lighter glovebox light all those wires and if possible the plug code(you know like f-51) like this I could pinpoint on the fsm what it is exactly

I get u that is why I had already thought about that and was going to shorten those wires so when or if I need them I could jus crimp another wire to it but that's only on certain ones I had also thought about adding male & female connectors to the ends of the chopped wires so like that I can jus plug the missing connection back to how it was

Makes me rethink my views on circumcision...

If you haven't decided by now, I wouldn't advise it.

So you're talking about already hidden wires that you don't need? I figured you were more concerned with engine bay stuff. And clokker was probably leaning towards, what have you/do you plan on removing from the engine compartment?
I guess I'm just confused as to why youre removing wires in the first place if not for a shaved/tucked bay look.

87nitefc 10-17-14 08:15 PM

Well that's what I'm going for since the previous owner thought it was a good idea to extend some of the wires and cut harnesses and not cut the extra wire I'll post later what I have removed so far

barkz 10-17-14 08:17 PM

What are you going for?

87nitefc 10-17-14 08:22 PM

Nice and tucked so far I deleted some of the check connector by the ign coil then by the main fuse box I got rid of some plugs there I also rewired my injectors, knock sensor and tps In the bay I'm not sure but I believe it's not much to remove but when under the dash there's so many wires that had been already cut such as the cigarette lighter and radio and for some dumb reason the center dash panel it's harness was rewired and extended but not finished

EnjoiPugs 10-18-14 12:17 AM

They most likely had something else installed that they took out later. Or tried to install something and it didnt work so they had to patch it back together.

Was the engine swapped that all of these things are extended? I guess you just need to figure out what is "extra."

87nitefc 10-18-14 12:58 PM

Nope no swap in my opinion I believe he was jus playing with the harness too much

E_nastysfc 10-19-14 01:52 AM

Wouldn't a painless kit be a better option?

87nitefc 10-19-14 03:28 PM

Wats a painless kit

87nitefc 10-22-14 09:35 AM

For a clean tucked look where should I run engine harness and front harness

dude go wireless! i'm not even kidding, the newer BMW motorcycles are wireless, apparently.

as an aside you can have the conversation with the police about why you couldn't signal for the turn because googles stock price was down that day

87nitefc 10-22-14 10:52 AM

wtf wireless sounds like funn hahaha

I must say that my first thought upon reading this was that someone capable of doing the work wouldn't ask this question.

and that is why i suggested wireless, see we're a helpful bunch!

but just think once the car is all blueteethed, you can look at which position your recirc motor is on your phone
