Coolant leaking from intake manifold???

For the past few weeks, i have been loosing an unusual amount of coolant. I put pressure in the coolant system to find the leak, and i found that it seems to be leaking from the intake manifold, specifically where it bolts to the engine block. Does this mean a cracked manifold, or possible a bad gasket/seal? Please help.

You have coolant lines runnig to the throttle body, and through it. I don't think coolant runs through the intake manifold but I could be wrong. Are you sure it is not leaking from one of the lines on the throttle body.

possibly, there are coolent lines on the side and back of the dynamic chamber/tb assembly, just there to help heat the intake charge for more efficincy. Its probably an old worn out coolent line that just let go.

try to see where the coolent actualy comes out. and go from there

if its a TII coolant runs through the intake to the turbo
it is not unheard of for the o ring between the intake
and the motor to fail.

I'll just expand on what Matt said. It may be the same on an NA as the TII. Not only do you have coolant going to the turbo but you also have a coolant passage that just dead ends at the intake manifold (on a TII). There is a rubber O-ring here that can leak (I know from experience). When mine was leaking there, coolant was actually puddling up on the top of the rotor housing so it was very difficult to locate.

All of that only applies to a TII, might be the same, might be different on an NA.

Good Luck.

yea that is common.

worst part, in some cases the area that the
o ring rests in the housing gets corroded and
needs to be repaired with Jb weld.
If this is the case you have to really clean the aluminum up
for the Jb weld to seal the surface.
