ok, i just went out side and tried to turn the motor over by hand. It would not budge an inch! so i took out the breaker bar and slowly added more force untill i saw it turn a little :) i did this like 3 or 4 more times then, i broke the damn rachet! fucking peice of shit! oh well its craftsman so im off to sears. any tips or advice welcome. thanks

You mean you broke the socket, I assume. A rachet does not a breaker bar make.

FC3S_nataku 08-19-05 11:06 AM

^WTF? i put a breaker bar on the end of the ratchet and i broke the die the holds the socket

johnnyg 08-19-05 11:12 AM

A 'real' breaker bar is just a long handle with a socket holder at the end. No ratchet.

FC3S_nataku 08-19-05 11:15 AM

oh. oh ok then I made a ghetto breaker bar :) sorry about that

johnnyg 08-19-05 11:19 AM

The good news is that it moved! If you get yourself a 'real' breaker bar, you should be able to apply more force and - hopefully - get it freed up.

Or, I suppose you could try the starter again now.

i dont think the starter is enough to turn it because i only got to move like 1/2 a rotation then broke the ratchet

Keep adding atf! you need the detergents to free up those apex seals.

you broke a CRAFTSMANS ratchet?? I'm assuming you're using at least a 3/8 ratchet. That takes quite a bit of force or some leverage. Hope you didn't break anything in the motor.

did you try to turn it in the reverse direction? get a spray bottle and shoot MMO in there and let it sit for a few hours. Then try to turn it in both directions.

FC3S_nataku 08-19-05 01:07 PM

ok ive put like 1/2 the bottle of mmo by now and yeah it was a 3/8 wrench. i put some more and a will try again tomorrow

Back and forth back and forth that is the key. Go one way till it stops then back it up till it stops and repeat. You may only have MMO on one side of the rotor faces. Have you put it down each intake port and spark plug holes? Try and dispers it. Rotote 90o then add MMO in the intake ports, repeat.

ok well after trying again with my dad for like a hour, i have decided to pull and rebuild. thanks everyone for the information! :) im pretty sure i have a apex seal jamming the rotor. i have to buy a new one and shit. oh well, we live we learn.

but i do have good news!

i just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to geicko
