I don't know if I'm aloud to link a thread from haltech pages to here but check it out for a basic run down of what's up:

Rx7club seems to have slowed way down in the past few years and the haltech side doesn't see much traffic Im stationed at ft Riley Kansas and theres not much for car guys here. Just would really like some help because I can't find the issue. I've pulled the dash back out, referenced the FSM, googled and spoke to spirits trying to figure this out. I'm getting to the point where I seriously wanna call it quits and sell it after 10 years with this car.

Any help is SUPER appreciated and if there's anyone near by that would be willing to come help, id pay for the gas. I'd even pay for some good "tech support".

Did you rip out the main harness with the fuse box on it?
those 4 plugs have nothing to do with the engine side of the harness.It connects off the INNER firewall harness supplied by the Fuse box harness.(main harness inside the car to fuse box then travels outsside the car on the Driver's side)
The wiper harness WAS part of the engine harness (passenger side|) which should have been stripped and reconnected back on to the car and should operate as it is intended.MAYBE you cut the ground IF you took that off the engine harness and need to find the 4(?) black wires that act as a ground to connect back to chassis.(you will see a crimped copper like connector that gangs these wires together.)

So only passenger side harness was removed. The driver side still remains in place and only modified at the ignition coils.
Sorry what I meant with those 4 plugs is would those prevent the blower motor from operating.
Wipers were depined and removed from the engine side of the harness and reconnected as originally intended.


I'll look for those 4 grounds! I know that those weren't disconnected.

Well I had a spare harness and out that back in next to the haltech harness. I plugged everything under the dash that has a spot minus the ECU.
as far as under the hood, I plugged the wipers in and bolted the harness ground back down.
Putting the dash back in now.

Dash is back in. Gauges and shroud installed and connected. Spare harness is in and connected where it can be, minus stock ECU and sensor locations and harness ground has been grounded.
haltech ECU gets power and connects to laptop. fuel pump get power and laptop is reading coolant temp and TPS %.
headlights, four ways, running lights, and interior lights all work.

Still no starter blinkers or wipers.

stupid question.Is the wiper motor plugged in at the firewall?..and is it connected,grounded?

the starter is on its own wire, it goes from the ignition switch, to the clutch switch (white, 87.5-91 USA only), to the cut relay from the alarm by the trailing coil, and then to the starter.

Ya, wipers are hooked up to the harness. And harness is grounded.

I'll have to take another look at the key ignition group. The car is an 86 with 88 tii swap
Driver and passenger side are both 86 na. Have been for years.

I feel like it's gotta be something small around that key ignition group. It's like the car isn't being told the key is in the on position. Idk though. I've gone through everything three times already and was running fine prior to the haltech harness install.

the starter wire, then just runs from the key, to the charging harness, to the starter, its simple. has nothing to do with the haltech

So heater/cool selector still isn't working. However, engine started, blinker work, and wipers work...
tge only other thing I messed with was that white blinker return switch behind the steering wheel.
I removed it and forgot about it. I was looking at the wires on the steering column and it hit me. I didn't put that back. I thought SURELY that isn't causing all this issue. YUP sure f**king was lol

To everyone give help, thanks so much for the effort and patients. To anyone ripping out the dash, don't f**k with the little white thing behind the steering wheel. It'll make your hair fall out

The Logicon connects to the firewall and a connector on the harness.
If your dash TOP(flat piece with vents) is still off then you can just see a connector in the Center Dr Side vent where the logicon's "pigtail" with the connector will go.
If you got small hands you can get it connected.

Small hands is an understatement, you gotta be small period. I've got broad shoulders, big hands, and long arms, but not long enough to still smush my face against the windshield and have my buddy guide my hands (while laughing his ass off) looking through the front of the windshield

Ya the two long connecters behind the dash, the white one center and blue one passenger side, are reconnected. Both were a pain lol. White one was the worst!

Still no workie. I did hollow out the AC unit and put the cover back together, and put it between the blower and the heater core. Did removing that ac core cause this?? Maybe I can bypass some wires if that's the case

Well it does matter now. Was running great. Everything was spec. Went to get gas. BABYING it to the shoppette. Put a little premix in the tank just to be safe. I'm talking maybe 2oz. Went to leave, got in the gas just a bit. Just to get up to speed. Nothing crazy or excessive. Let off the gas BOV choo-chood, and the oil sprayed everywhere. Killed it and pulled off immediately to save the engine. Figured a oil line slipped or something. NOPE. Front iron cracked right at the turbo oil feed banjo. I'm sooo dang mad right now. Fresh rebuild. Maybe 500 miles. To shit. Really want to sell this thing now. Ten years down the damn drain. So mad!!!

If you cracked a front iron that easy, your tune was WAY off

Maybe or probably. Idk. I checked everything. It was running right. Timing was correct it very well could've been something I missed or did wrong. Or just bad luck. That front iron had 20+ years on it. I'm definitely not saying it wasn't my fault. It just sucks :(. I'll have to take pictures of the area it happened in. It was on post (wasn't spreading) and was 30 feet from the turn I just made. So not even far enough to be beating the shit out of it. I'm just SUPER poopy butt about it.

Gonna chill tomorrow and then yank it back out the day after gonna look for a new front iron. I'm not sure. But with it being such a fresh rebuild I don't think I'll need a rebuild kit for it. Just that front iron.

what kind of fitting was in there? you might search a bit, but the wrong fitting will crack the block.
