Trust me our profit margins are slim. That is for a full intake settup for an S4 which is the most costly because of the the AFM adapter which adds around 25 dollars to the cost. Just wait. ;)

have you seen the price of mandrel bent tubing... its really expensive... and the r&d time that went into it and all the test fitting and everything...

its the same as everything else, spend a lot of time doing it yourself, or buy it premade for more than it would have cost you to make it...

it all comes down to which is worth more to you, your time or your money

I would be afraid to drive in the rain with the filter mounted there. I know the rotary really doesn't have a problem with hydrolock, but I was with one of my Honda driving friends the other day (he has an AEM CAI). He drove through a big puddle, and the engine stalled out, we were afraid he hydrolocked it for a few minutes. Luckily, it was fine. I don't want my car stalling every time I drive through a puddle.:o:

If you have all the covers and don't go into a river you don't need to worry about it at all.

Yea seriously doesnt a filter need to be doused pretty badly or submerged to hydrolock an engine? You shouldnt be driving through big puddles anyways.

I have the checkpoint one... driven in the rain with it... no problems. I avoid puddles normaly though... so i wouldnt know about that

one thing to note that i have to worry a lil about now is when i wash the car... since its an oiled filter, i dont think it would like to get soap on it... so when i wash my car i stick a plastic bag over it

Around here, when it rains hard, it is impossible to avoid big puddles and still get to where you want to go.

It's a good idea, but I would rather see someone make a throttle body adapter and a pipe to replace the stock intake tube. At least a throttle body adapter. Whatever happened to that guy who made those a while back?

hypothetically speaking, in TIIs, with the hood scoop sucking in air to the intercooler, is it bad to drive in the rain since the rain can basically run right into the intercooler?

I would think the water would actually make the intercooler more efficient. Kinda like a cheap air/water intercooler.

That's not a cold air intake. Besides, there are no performance advantages to replacing the stock plastic intake pipe, because it's already huge.
There's nothing wrong with the intercooler getting wet. Most cars have front-mounted intercoolers remember.

Who said it was? I sure didn't. I just said I'd rather see a standard replacement tube made then have a funky wet/dry vac mounted below my car.
