Buying an RX-7

Alright, so I'm looking at buying a 2nd Gen RX-7 soon here, and I'm wondering what I should look for in good/bad things. Any helpful tips you guys have here? And places to look for rust? Noises to listen for? Things to see if they're missing?

Rust..look at and under right rear fender near gas tank lid and on sunroof. Those are the most notoriuos spots for rust to appear.

white smoke. THE CAR MUST BE COLD when you test drive it...if the car smokes WHITE when you start it cold then the coolant seals are dead and you should
1. walk away or
2. LOWER the asking price by about 1K

check compression.

On a note here, remember, if it smokes white at startup, that doesn't mean shit, especially on a cold day. Condensation can build up in the exhaust, its only until you test drive it and get it out there and come back, that if theres still white clouding smoke, then you may have a problem.

Read the faq, it covers all of this in great detail.

no......by smoke I mean LARGE AMOUNTS OF SMOKE......as the car warms up the seal will expand due to heat and the car WILL NOT SMOKE....when the car cools the seals will contract (often it will crack a bit more) and leak a bit of coolant which WILL be noticeable upon next start up......trust me....I KNOW, I WAS SOLD A TII WITH BLOWN COOLANT SEALS and I WAS PISSED....

Thats why you bring a coolant compression tester.

Definatley check for blown coolant seals. Take the coolant filler cap off, pull the EGI fuse, have someone crank the car over, (it wont start), and look for air bubbles coming up through the coolant. Pray you dont see any.
