Brake NOIIIIISE Pissin' the hell outta me.

Ive posted this once before and got nowhere with it. Ill try again because it is so annoying.
my brakes make the most god aweful crunking noises very consistantly ( on a few occasions they are quite) but most of the time when applied at any speed above idle they make these intermittent crunching noises unitl the car gets to a complete stop. It is pretty loud ( enough that pedestrians crossing infront of me give me very nervous looks when im approaching them and breaking because they think my brakes are failing and im about to plow them down)
the car in question is an 88 vert with whatever brakes they came with.
ive done numerous search jobs and nothing has turned up anything similar...
HELP, PLEASE.

ps when taken to Mazda they say the cause is built up pad dust and their remedy is to blow the brakes clear with compressed air....day later.............its crunching again.,....

my old camry used to do the same thing

try swapping to another brand brake pad

brake pad??

they were replaced with stock mazda units last season, still some wear to go.
I know they discs are pretty badly scored and i had em machined...could that casue any of the noise?
what pads should i go with for this application..assuming thats the problem.

I'd be checking to see if the pads or rotors have been glased, as well as it there is any missing brake hardware springs.

check the inside of the discs, the shop that lowered mine put the caliper back on w/o the spacers for the bolts. needless to say, there is very little clearance between the spindle and disc, so the bolt tip was digging into the disc.

make sure everything in the brakes are complete and new and you should be fine

brakes are really basic and straightforward. i would compare brakes on each side of the car and look for variations. or even better, if you have a friend with an fc compare brakes with him or her. you should be able to see whats missing pretty easily.
